But I spent the day with a wet stone in hand grinding my rocker arms smooth.  Never done this before and kind of tedious but fun to do nevertheless.  If my engine needs smooth rocker arms, that's what it gets.  The real bonus is, now I know how !  Only 3 left to do. Learning is such a big part of this whole experience. For those who haven't done it and aren't sure how, give it a try if you have the heads off anyway.

I have never heard of this. Where did you get this idea?

I remember James is running a small block Ford. Is he removing the casting flash from the rocker arms??

WARREN : In the mid sixties , I had a high performance Volvo , and after some hard driving , the rockers would develop small imprints of the valve stem . A little " draw-filing " made it all okay -- Don't go too far , or you will break through the case hardening !! -- That's old school , but if you wanted something done -- YOU did it !!! -- LATER -- DON / Fleet 51

That's what I was worried about, going through the case hardening, then that rocker would disappear in no time.
Thanks Don

I just did what I was instructed to do. Bill showed me that there was a small recess where the rods met the rocker arms and I was to file it smooth. He did the first 3. I did the rest. It doesn't take off much with a wet stone so it takes a while but it worked.
