Was fortunate to sell that pair to a guy with a '66 Nova with a 'bolt on' front end. 68160 Hedman arrived thursday, they are on-   BUT -  there is always something to CHANGE!

Cannot use the column shift anymore- so a Quarter stick for the 'glide was had used.

the engine has a 168 tooth flywheel; these headers require a 153 tooth, which I have. Now the tranny must come out to swap flywheels & when it's out I will swap torque converters to a 3500 stall waiting on the floor. And do a band adjustment. All the fun of Hot Rodding!!!  LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Right on Junior.

I need to take a page from your book.

Lately, every time I hit an issue, I'm swearing at the car in the garage looking like an idiot.

I picked up a 'glide from a good guy a couple years back. Swapped flywheels, transfered parts from the 1.82 ratio 'glide that was in my Chevy II (deep pan, etc.) This one coming out IS the original 6 cyl. 'glide- hence no trans cooler provisions. Air cooled with D shaped holes in the bellhousing. I am sure you have all seen one.Round holes are 'cut' @ the Dealer prior to install. The 'glide going in is a 1.76 ratio, from an 8cyl.-327 & bigger with tranny cooler provisions; so now I can run a trans cooler also. Gets new seals front and back,filter/pan & gskt. Cut the 'extra casting' off the 'glide case to allow ease of fittment- for the Quarter stick and headers. To night when it's cooler I will fit the starter motor or find I have to get a mini starter.

Better shot of the starters. Top is for 168 tooth-below is for 153 tooth. The difference is the nose-fits the headers. My block has 3 starter bolt holes allowing two types of mounting & I don't need a mini starter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cleaning up the 'old '  powerglide from my Nova and look what I found! The car was Chassis Dyno'd one Friday night @ StThomas Raceway Park on Misner Motorsports trailer mounted dyno. Just under 300 @ the rear wheels. The car has subframe connectors and multi leaf rear springs. Torque breaks parts. Glad the 1.76 ratio 'glide is going in. My feet thank me

Have a look at these cracks - one side to the other. DSC00400.JPGDSC00401.JPGDSC00402.JPGDSC00403.JPG

Under the car to day and yesterday;Had to re install the new shifter shaft that's required for the Hurst Quarter stick yesterday.

Learn something everyday. Thought I had it right the first time ; shifter arm pointing up = must be pointing down. Now the tranny is up in place,so I do it from below. I have 3 impact mounds from colliding with the car stands and my head. Here is the converter in place; Seated in the pump and spun ,withdrawn about  1/8 ,spaced with washers and RED Loctite on the nuts. I did this on the floor of my garage,at 63 I am fortunate I can still do it.                                                                                            HOT RODDING

Going to run my trans cooler 'under' the car.DSC00406.JPG

As a novice, I didn't understand how the headers had to conform to a flywheel. Headers are just exhaust. But if you mean they had to fit on the block without parts like starters being in the way, then I understand. And peanut butter jars are also good for storing leftover, almost empty house paint.
