This is a picture of the shifter I have for my truck. Can someone tell me what the part is that I am pointing to. It has numbers on it but when I try and type it into a GM parts search it does not come up. The shifter came out of a Monte Carlo SS but I have forgotten the year. Thinking it may be a 2007 but not sure. It is for a 4 speed tranny though. Has 2 small wires coming out of it as well, one light brown with a white stripe and one green with a white stripe. The rod moves out when I push the button on the side of the handle to take it out of park. The numbers on it are F6015PQ5 2107 1730. I guess it could be an E instead of F at the beginning.
OK, so if I take a battery and put the positive wire to one of the two wires that will make it work? As it sits now I can make the shifter move through all the points.
Ground the other lead also, if it was mine I would just remove the solenoid. If you want the interlock tap the two wires into the brake light switch.
Only one wire goes to BL sw, the other is the ground. Should not matter which wire goes where. OR you could put a pushbutton in line from a run circuit to the sw as a theft device, just don't tell.
Get yer 12 volt battery charger out. Huck black to one wire, and the red to the other. If that moves there ya go, if it don't, switch them. If still no go, the solinoid is scrap.
I see no reason to play around, so just remove it. You're not likely to have the brake pedal and switches to support it anyway ?
