So thinking ahead a bit.  Starting to think about my dash and how I am going to work it which leads to getting the gauges so I know what hole size to use.  Is there any/much difference between the different manufactures?  Any I should avoid or any I should be using?  Will either be 5 or 6 gauges when done.  I have a plan but need to see if it will work.  Any other things I should be considering?

There's a lot of drop in factory shaped gauge panels for these trucks. Looks so much better than a panel with holes cut in it for round gauges in my opinion. They seem pricey at first glance but if you add up everything it's quite comparable. I got the Dakota digital sweep gauges (not digital) . I wish I had got the classic instruments factory looking panel but Dakota digital made a number of challenges I had much easier. Plus wiring it is so much easier!! You had that VHX module you mount somewhere convenient and just one Ethernet cable runs behind you dash. Dakota digital is a little cheaper than classic instruments. It comes with absolutely everything you need. There's all kinds of add on modules for the VHX system to if you want. Calibrating and setup is easy. I had a Chevy fuel sender in my tank 0-90ohm so you just scroll through the menus on the dash and select gm90. Speedometer i used the driving calibration while using GPS and you just push a button to adjust the gauge until it matches. I'm really happy with the unit.

Beans, those are really quite nice looking. I thought I seen somewhere where a guy took some 1/8" steel bent it in the shape of the perimeter of the existing gauge area and then took a second piece to put inside that perimeter piece but back a couple of inches or more and sloped to his eyes, kind of like todays cars. Can't find it now but for some reason the vision sticks in my head. A lot (read most) guys buy the chrome or alum. piece that bolts in and has holes for gauges already. I find that looks to much like something you bolt in (ha, ha) for me. Wanted something that looks more like it was always there. Beans, those look much more like they belong there right from the factory.

That truck is mind blowing. The bit on the show of it doesn't even scratch the surface. I can only guess what the price tag on it was. My guess is 300-400K
