Project For Sale - Make a reasonable offer SOLD SOLD

This is NOT a Barrett Jackson car .....as you can see it does need some work . Recently appraised at $10 K but I am a reasonable man and will consider offers . Offers must be submitted in triplicate to my legal representatives at Dewey-Cheatam- and Howe  no later than midnight June 1 . Don't be left out . This can easily be built into a classic street machine with some effort on your part .

I was envisioning a 63 split window Corvette ,at first , but changed my mind and considered building a  69 hemi Cuda . Then again it could be an 85 K-Car ! The choice is yours .

Just think how proud your wife and brats....I mean kids biggrin will be when they see this in the driveway . The neighbours will be so envious !

I think 10 grand for an eco friendly ride like this is a bit low. If I was you I would ask more. After all,, the buyer would get a tax break from the den mother in Toronto.

The tires that you guys are dissing , I'll have you know are a....um ...., early wrinkle-wall prototype ! Very rare and sought after by rodders who want that conversation piece .

If you need financing for this once in a life time offer , NO PROBLEM ! Our financial expert Ben D, Over just got out of , I mean graduated from Kingston several weeks ago . With interest rates as low as 2.9 % ( weekly ) how could you go wrong ? No need to mail your payments and incur expensive postage costs ....nooooo , you will be greeted by Vinny , Bubba , and Scarface each month at your home where you will pay up , or else !

I do not see it being worth the asking price.it is probably just not my vision of it in its complete state.

Reminds me of a story a friend of mine Ben Thompson told me a while ago . Ben owns Quite speed and Custom. Guy comes in on a motorcycle removes his back pack and pulls out an AFB carb, wondering if Ben might have another for sale. Ben asks what for, "building a Hemi cuda" was the reply. What have you got so far inquires Ben. "Just this carb" came the reply. "Sorry don't have another" Ben informs him. So he went on his way looking for another carb. 2 years later the guy shows up at Bens shop with the car done. Ben got to go for a ride in it.
Got enough ambition you can build anything.

Unfinished project, as listed:

Might be worth close to $10K, except for two fatal design flaws - the old tires being sold, came off recalled Ford Explorer death traps.

- hard to make a silk purse, out of a pigs ear

- so a 1963 Corvette FI split window or 1969 Hemi Cuda, is not a practical build...with the starting point, offered for $ale

================================================================================================================

Firestone Tire Blowout Recall Blows Up, on Ford Explorer

The Firestone tire recall is perhaps the most deadly auto safety crisis in American history. US regulators on 16 October, 2000 have raised the death count to 119 (the death count has steadily risen from 62, later to 88 and 101 deaths reported on 9/20/2000). Experts believe there may be as many as 250 deaths and more than 3000 catastrophic injuries associated with the defective tires. Most of the deaths occur in accidents involving the Ford Explorer which tends to rollover when one of the tires blows out.

In May 2000, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration issued a letter to Ford and Firestone requesting information about the high incidence of tire failure on Ford Explorer vehicles. During July, Ford obtained and analyzed the data on tire failure. The data revealed that 15" ATX and ATX II models and Wilderness AT tires had very high failure rates: the tread peels off. Many of the tires were made at a Decatur, Illinois plant. Worse, when the tires fail the vehicle often rolls over and kills the occupants.

Ford Officials estimate the defect rate is 241 tires per million for 15-Inch ATX and ATX II tires. By contrast Ford says there are no defects in 16 Inch tires per million and only 2.3 incidents per million on other tires.

On August 9 both companies decided on the recall. Ford and Firestone disagreed as to how to break the news. Bridgestone/Firestone officials wanted to read a statement at a joint briefing without answering any questions. Ford strongly disagreed with this strategy and warned of disaster if they refused questions. Ultimately questions were asked, many of them remain unanswered.

Good News for me ......bad news for all you procrastinators ....project is Sold , Sold , Sold . A happy and excited new owner paid a bit south of the asking price and rolled 'er home .

Fear Not , I parlayed that windfall into another cool project :

The paint has an interesting "texture " to it ....or as I like to say " patina " ! Wagons are IN as you are well aware , and wouldn't the neighbours be envious as they gaze at this beauty in your drive way every day .  Best Offer takes it !! Don't be disappointed .

^^ You sell the wheels only, for big bucks / then find a another project car (beach special), that's missing wheels...

Love the art deco styling - this ash tray was being scrapped, when local factory implemented a company wide "no smoking policy".

- a good save, from the office lobby

This just in .......talking to the lady I bought this car from and she gave me some very useful info .....yes the car is a 64 Pontiac as Parklane suggested , but not just any 64 Pontiac ......noooo , it's a Beach Boy Surfin' Safari Edition , very rare . It came with a removable roof and a real Corinthian Leather interior ! The roof removal was to allow more surf boards to be carried more easily . The paint is FACTORY Kandy Kelp , in colour . The car had previously owned by someone calling himself " The Donald " who sold it to the lady I bought it from .
