Picked up a 69 Beaumont convertible today, it was an abandoned project. One of the previous owners had collected all the parts to restore but never got to it. I had one in the late 70's and always regretted selling it.
Still a few thing to finish on the El Camino and then I'll start on this one.
Sweet find Glenn, looks to be complete and in good shape. I am restoring one as well but it is not nearly as nice as what you are starting with. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Cheers
Thanks Whitey, looks can be deceiving! It spent all its life here in Ontario so there are lots of rust issues.
Hope to see your convertible in this section soon.
Thanks tc, not sure on engine yet. Original is long gone, it was replaced with a 454 but that's long gone too. Came with a 350 but not sure if I'll use it.
Oh I know all about Beaumont convertible rust issues my friend lol...I am doing a complete one piece trunk and floor in mine + the usual body panel replacement. I hope to start a build thread soon. We might need to be each others support group...
Haha, yes a Beaumont support group might be in order. Mine came with a new floor pan and trunk pan to be installed. The other one I had was suffering rust issues especially the quarters and that was in the late 70s.
I had several Chevelle "SS" cars including a soft top back in the day and always wanted a Beaumont - looks like all the pieces are there Great starting point for sure .Enjoy the build

I might know where there is a 69' 396 block (2 bolt) coded for a Canadian pontiac if you go that way. IIRC, its standard bore still.
i am not a pontiac aficionado by any means but i would be thinking that motor would be a nice finishing touch coded the way it is. how many could be left around? it would make a nice cheetah clone.

Yea I second that.. If that was my car I'd be all over that engine. It would save a posting 5 years from now about the engine you should have bought ..
Have you submitted the VIN to GM Vintage Vehicles yet Glenn? With only 488 made, might be worth doing so before making any drive train decisions. Although mine had a running non-numbers SBC in it, thankfully it also came with the original 307/2sp. For me, my goal is a restoration but it's all about your vision for the car.
Haven't done that yet Whitey. You're lucky you got the original engine with yours. Since the original engine & trans are long gone from mine all options are open right now.
I have all the original paperwork for the car including the original sales agreement and protect-o-plate. It was sold by Grant Brown Motors in Weston, the lady that bought it traded in a 1963 Acadian.
