Great pictures: pictures are nice.. I see you narrowed that front clip that must be a tight squeeze for the engine mounts..nice welding..I don't know if you remember or seen any posts on OR from as guy called builderrhys'' I sold him a 49 merc several years ago..a more door.. He had a great build thread on it .He put that body on a I believe it was Mark1v Lincoln..He was/is doing a really nice job ..He cut the car and widened it about 4 inches. He used the firewall,  the floor and I think he using the dash in the 49..you may want to see if you find his build on Or let me know if you can't find it ..I will try to see if I can find some pictures of that build..One thing that was very unique about that car ..The ownership was registered to a James Dean..pretty funny.. I might have pictures of it I will try to find..

Yes chuk I did see that one. A lot of work. I have not seen any updates since he moved.

I know you are well on your way ..Lots of work eh!!!here is another article on that swap just to look at .. One can never learn enough..

http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/0709rc-marvin-coleys-1950-mercury/

I can remember doing these , not Mercs in particular but when I was a pup I put more than one coupe body on some big old early fifties Olds with that V8 engine and column 3 speed.. We had torches only and some pretty old crap for stick welders..I also made a few convertibles with an axe head and a 5 lb sledge..The bone yards were chucked full of 30s, 40s, 50s cars they more plentiful than girls..

Very nice job with the mig welder Stang. Weld looks real good so no problem with it being strong enough.
