My wife told me to leave her along and go build something.biggrin  She wanted a new coffee table.  So a plan was hatched.  Well I found one in an older woodworking magazine that I have.  It is modeled after the arts and craft design.  I have built several pieces in the same format.  We both like this design.  The wood comes from an old bed frame we don't need, (that is the stained thicker pieces in the middle) and the rest comes from an old log that was given to me.  I had it milled into boards a few years ago.  The stain is golden oak with a stain clear varnish on top.  On the fourth picture it looks like the boards go through the legs.  The was what they were supposed to do but that is really hard to do neatly.  I cut the mortise and tenons to go about 3/4 of the way through the legs only.  What you see is a small cap as such that I glued on top of the leg to create the same look.  Wife is super happy with it.
