Thinking of switching from carb to fuel injection. Any suggestions on complete kits. Reviews are all over the map. I would like something that looks like a carb.
I don,t know about the Fuel Injection kits but it seems to me that i had read an article on installing a GM TBI system on a small block Chev. It pretty well used all stock items.
Also maybe if Wayne "Rochy" sees this he could offer some advice, I think he has some experience and knowledge on a kit/upgrade I think he did one on one of his cars.. and thought it worked pretty well for him.. Wayne is member of the ELTA.. not sure if a search of his posts might turn up something.. I will try to take a look for it later.. busy doing my house work right now ..

Marten, FITech was started by an engineer that worked for Holley. Holley didn't't want to market his injection unit because they already had injection on the market. He left Holley and built his own company. I used the "up to 600 HP" FITech unit when it first hit the market. Now they have a unit for up to 400HP. It is self contained and will control the timing as well. The only hassle I ran into was running a vent line back to the fuel tank. You can use an in-tank pump or use their "fuel command" kit which is fed by the mechanical pump on your engine . It has it's own pump in a reservoir and runs at 58PSI. The two problems I had with it were an open injector(piece of crap stuck in it) and in the early units the wiring was too small a gauge (24Ga.) to support the amperage. I just re-wired the unit to support 20 amps to the fuel pump and everything has been great since. They have since upgraded the wiring.
You can feel the difference between the carb and the fuel injection in the seat of your pants and at the gas pumps
I know a number of folks who have had nothing but troubles with FiTech units they have purchased, the number one problem being zero after sales tech support. Many have switched to the Holley Sniper setups and I can tell you from first hand experience with a Sniper setup on a nasty little AC Cobra I restored last summer that they work incredibly well... 347 Cubic inch and dyno'd at 575 rear wheel horsepower in a 2100 lb package with throttle response that will scare the manliest of men...
