Thanks John: but you didn't come back to do the sanding?  I really hate sanding , but the project is moving along. I started this in Oct and hope to be finished by end of Febuary.. this was a lot of work for an old guy totaly gutted the whole up stairs to the rafters, repaired and supported all rafters. sprayed 5in of foam in all roof rafters, built all knee walls , and on and on, just finished all the wiring last night and flipped the breaker.. Holy Moly Batman everything works, plugs and lights and switches.. today will be closing up the walls and tomorrow I will be redoing all the stairs, not one square wall or step, The house is a 160 year old stone house.. or a money pit.. much like restoring building a rust bucket hot rod.. never know what you find next.. The hardest part of this project has been sourcing materials. PICT1101.JPG

this is what I started from..then on to the next part

Chuk, did you use the spray foam kits or a company that comes out and does it for you?

Hi Wayne: I used a company from Mitchel Ont. Vanmoorsel , They have doing this for over thirty years and have a great reputation for quality work. They do a great job and they are good to deal with.. it was well woth the money to me..I did look into those kits but I think it would have cost me more in both time and money and the Chineeeese plauge keeping all the building suppliers closed except for curbside pickup just made them totaly unworkable for me.. And the chsnce of making a mess and wasting a lot of material just didn't work for me. it was $2500 well spent in my view.  I can heat those two bedrooms with a light bulb now.. getting ready to sell my place in about a year maybe two.. just needs to have a good refreshing, took out 50 trees last year and still have maybe 10 more to remove this spring or summer.. getting old sucks.. in less than two years I will be 80 hmm disbelief  biggrin getting harder and harder to crawl around under rust..

Wow, that was a project Chuck!, Two of my houses are over 100 years old - one was built in 1785 and is post and beam so I can appreciate your comment about lack of square. But I love old houses and love working on them. If we were in closer proximity I'd come help. You've done a great job from the pictures. How are your knees?
