I am a novice at this sort of thing but I'm trying to learn. Problem is, my sources conflict. What to do ? I have two old machinists, both claiming to know what's best, one is 92 and sharp as a tack and the other 73. I have a Holley 2 barrel that appears to need a good cleaning. One says two oil the springs (external) because my throttle isn't returning as far as it is supposed to and this carb looks like it's been around a while. Then other say NEVER oil springs on a carb, they will gather dust with oil and won't function properly after. Which one is right ? I am getting a new tri-power in a few weeks I think but I still want to know, which guy is right ? Is it wrong to oil the external springs on a carb ?
