I started gathering pieces for this build a while ago. Got a couple of pieces of I beam. ( rustier than I would like, but affordable),I lucked into a 5' 4 way lower and upper knife die to use. After putting off and debating in my head how to build this, I stumbled across a pair of 5" X 8" hydraulic cylinders. Perfect for a 50 ton brake.

Ordered the rest the material and got busy.

I laminated the upper die holder together. 1/2" core with 5/16" plates on either side. Total thickness of 1.125", the width of the clevis opening in the hydraulic cylinder.

I had to get the I beams cut at friends place as my saws were not near big enough. Laid them out on my frame table and started tacking them  together.

Cut the lower I beam to fit and tacked it into place.

Installed the cylinders and plumbing and run it through a cycle just to see if everything was going to work. It did. I guess I didn't take a picture of it at this point, but this is close.

Welded an I beam on top for strength. Made a mount for an outer cylinder to use as a press. 4" X 14" cylinder.
