have you guys seen an increase of MTO presents on the hwy?
I drive on the 407 a lot and they seem to be crawling all over it, I have read they have radar and have seen them primarily going after commercial vehicles, but have heard they can pull over anyone?
is this a result of no longer requiring drive clean? Are they waiting and preparing for spring, when we all take out our classic rides?
They're out in force down here too. I live on one of the primary mountain access' for Niagara. There's a quarry at the top of the hill. Literally hundred's of dumps, straights and 18 wheelers pass my place every day and who do I see pulled over by the MTO?....a soccer Mom in her mini-van. Go figure.
I'm pretty certain one of the members here is an MTO employee, perhaps he could enlighten us. Might as well get it straight from the horses mouth.
Maybe her kids were jumping around in the back seat and she didn't notice because she was on the phone and applying makeup. This is about the thousandth time we've had this discussion. Just put the required equipment on your car/engine, don't act stupid and enjoy the hobby. If we really want to keep the hobby alive, follow the rules. This is not about any particular gov't., it's the times we live in. Poor air quality, over crowded hiways, Insurance companies, less then 1% of the population understands hot rodding, we're getting too old and our voice is lost in the din. My MTO rant for the day.
I probably put one 700 or 800 KL a week on the QE- 403 area Hardly see any MTO On the main highway standard OPP speed traps in the same locations . I can understand the heavy presence of MTO on Vineland seeing its the last main exit before the scale. Really you need to up your game a bit trying that route .
MTO’s focus is on commercial vehicles, including radar for speed violations – big rigs require speed limiters that limit them to 105, although most run about 110 around here (still better than a few years ago). MTO does NOT do emission stuff, that’s MOE. And Wuga is right. MTO officers have the same basic legal powers as the police, so if the driver of a passenger car is being really stupid they’re fair game, at least for a warning.

Solid advice from someone with more years on the planet than me. Happy birthday Warren.
