My apologies to any members who are Posties but....how about that postal service eh? I ordered something that generally took 3-4 days, last time it took almost 3 weeks. I followed the tracking every day, they said it had been delivered to our post outlet( local Avondale). For 10 days after ( it wasn't there) I checked, then, the tracking site said " if it's not picked up today it will be returned". I returned to the outlet and lo and behold, there it was. When I called and spoke to the nearest post office ( where the tracking site said it was delivered to then forwarded they tried to blame the part-time minimum wage employee at the Avondale - as if they had anything to benefir by holding up my delivery. They don't realize they're making the case against themselves by screwing the country over.
Yep: The posal workers get me riled too.. I am going through an issue right now.. I ordered a article from W-mart online, Followed the tracking and it just so happened, I was in town last Monday and coming home I had to wait on the road while a farmer next to me was loading gravity bins parked on the road. That is not unusual at this time of the year when they are taking corn off.. I just happend to be behind the postal delivery guy.. This was not my normal postal delivery guy as I found out later he was on holidays.. Anyway this guy is Driving a Caddy they are probably cheap these days , most of them are cheap to buy..
Anyway he never even stopped at my mailbox this day. So later I am checking the tracking again as I was waiting for my parcel.. Tracking says it was delivered at 1:37 pm.. Hmmm thats just about time I had come home, mailman never even stopped at my box.. Cheked the door to see if it was just left there or what.. Nothing.. So I get back on my tracking and found a number to call.. The person I talked was really good , Spoke english perfectly, I think he was a Canadain, fancy that,, Anyway he took all my info and gave an ticket number..
Next day I get a call from so lady at the post office telling me that she spoke to the driver and he said it was delivered, She is telling me they have a GPS scanner that scans the parcel at the time of delivery at my address and the scanner says it was delivered.. So I get the feeling they are calling me a liar and trying to scam them for the article.. It feels like all of a sudden I am the bad guy here.. Next day the Mail guy comes to my door and says he can't remember if he delivered it here or someplace else.. He says he has so much mail he gets mixed up some times. So I report back to the post office what has occured.. They tell me only the shipper can make a claim.. Sooo I contact W-Mart and submit my grievence , I got a reply that it was a third party seller and they have submitted my claim to them Somebody from Bison communications team will be in contact within a day..I waited three days nothing, re-sent the claim, got same reply, I have to this day never heard a word from anybody..
Meanwhile last Friday my regular postal guy is back and shows up at the dorr with my parcel.. Seems it just got turned into the post office from sombody, nobody knows anything about what happened or who turned it in.. My reg postal guy says the scanners are a piece of crap, they constanly need recalibrating and are just crap and not relaible at all.. That is his story.. anyway, I got my parcel a week after it was supposed to have been delivered.. with no explaination of what happened and I have yet to hear a word back from W-mart or the seller.. I have removed w-mart from my online purchases as they, have done nothing to help or even communicate to see if I got my parcel or not and I never heard from the third party seller at all as of this date..
So who is blame the post-office as they did have the parcel but fked up on the delivery and it got lost.. It finally did show up but with no explaination.. Over the years living in the country I always seem to get the flyers and junk mail but Come spring I never know how much of my mail I find in the ditch that the mail guy droped between his car and the mail-box and every spring I find several articles of mail, over the years it has been cheques, bills, cards, credit cards, drivers licence, and many other forms of correspondence..
I am constanly changing as much as I can to use e-mail for bills, and any other form of bypassing the post office.. Thay have just gotten so bad for reliability in my area for sure...I have a chip on my shoulder about them and I have kno sympathy at all for the them.. They have super paying jobs, great benifits, great vacations, great pensions, tons of sick days, almost impossible to get fired.. and they are still whinning and bitching.. Hey if they don't like the job they are free to quit and find a better safer and better paying line of work.. I am sure there is a line up of people who be glad for that work and benifits they are recieving.. Pretty sure I could get along just fine without any rural postal service now-a-days.. But I am thinking it won't be long befor somwhow the Gobernment is going to find a way to tax us for e-mail at some point as soon as they can find a way for them too do so.. Then soon they will be after texting for taxes too...

i am with you on the caddies and i would much rather hear the term, reasonably priced, rather than cheap. i tried a navigator this time around but i am on the snoop now for another reasonably priced escalade, the lincoln's just aren't the same in many ways.

I hear you when I was pulling wrenches I use to dream of having a 1975 town car things have changed I do like the old caddy to curze in it is a cal car when I bought it, it had less than 20 thousand miles on it I use it to travel in lol
yea there is some changes to the rural postal service in the last few years and not much of it, if any for the good. i have been getting rural mail delivery for well over 30 years and since they took away the independents that bid on their mail runs and made them unionized it has definitely changed. i had some of the trouble you had chuck with stuff on the ground you would find in the spring but when i put a note on the door of the box, no junk mail or flyers 4 or 5 years ago it has stopped, so far. lol you would find 1/2 a tree in the box once a week with the door usually left open and stuff wet or covered in snow many times and all you really wanted was the c.t.c. flyer and another one or two. i get them now on the net. i also have rural delivery at the shop and the biggest change i found there is the delivery times have gotten stupid. for years we send out a lot of cheque's on monday's which would be in toronto or montreal usually by friday. now it can take up to 2 weeks w.t.f.. when/if they complained about where is the cheque i would tell them if you want it faster send in a courier, on your dime. lol it is the same for cheque's coming in also but now i have the drivers picking up most of them. a funny tidbit, my warehouse manager who is a younger car nut had built a late model mustang crotch rocket, 600 plus hp, and when he was getting married he decided to sell it off for the $$$, he had some pricey parts on it and pretty much sold the car off in pc's all over the place and shipped most of it by mail from the shop. him and the mailman at the time got into some really heated arguments on whether he could ship that weight or size of pc through the mail as the rural carriers both deliver and p/u mail. being a sharp guy he prints off a copy of what all sizes and weights they are required to p/u and keeps a copy for the mailman. the independent mailman would shake his head and take the pc and leave but when they switched over to union guys is when the arguments really started to get heated. it was funny as hell at the time and he was right, lmfao. the biggest noticeable change around here is that all the cars are right hand drive jap s.u.v.s and some vans looking more like the american ones you see and not any older car, usually, with a flashing yellow light stuck to the roof of it and the driver sitting in the middle driving with his left hand and foot.

Me thinks Canada Post is shooting themselves in the foot. They do this every couple of years. Everyone will find other ways to get there stuff delivered. There saving grace now is there pricing, cheaper than the other big couriers.
well Chuck it just must pay to drive a caddy I ordered a special coffee grinder off of Amazon on Nov 26 it was out of stock and they said they would not be able to have it until Dec 2 and I would get it on Dec 12. Amazon sent me a message it had been shipped and gave me the tracking # Canada Post sent me a message it might get delayed because of a labour dispute well to-day two days early and on a Sunday no less they knocked on the door and handed me my parcel
We get dozens of parcels delivered all year round and in fact 6 in the last two weeks by Canada Post. Everyone was delivered on or before the promised date. We have never had a parcel go astray that I can remember and have never found a piece of mail in the snow bank. We have had the same contracted postie since we moved here seven years ago. If you have problems with your delivery service, make a complaint. I have several friends who are now retired posties and they lived in fear all their careers of complaints. The system may not be perfect but considering the millions of pieces delivered daily, I think it is damn near. The post office has to run like any business and carry it's own weight. With only 35 million bodies spread across the second largest nation in the world, I think they do a pretty good job.

wow, no sh!t, on a sunday. humph. like i mentioned around here before they brought the rural independent carrier's into the union i would get the odd package delivered to the door at the house because it was a tad big for the box but not no more and definitely not on a sunday or a saturday for that matter. interesting. no big deal as the post office is only a little over a mile away to p/u stuff at, here at the house. the shop is a different story because the post office is in shoppers drug mart in a big plaza which is a pain in the butt.
lol, just what is so special about the coffee grinder from amazon? i bought a magic butter machine off amazon 3 or 4 years ago and i think it is pretty special. lol

Warren
i am surprised you have the same contractor delivering down there warren being so close to belleville and they went union up here, he might be in the union now, maybe. we had the same guy after it changed at the shop for awhile but now it is the 2nd or maybe 3rd person driving a mini cube r.h. drive van, american style. at the house it is a r.h. drive toyota, i think, and definitely not the original contractor unless he had a sex change. you are right about their coverage though, the biggest thing i have noticed is the longer delivery times.

Our delivery is out of the post office in Picton. Our postie, bought two right hand drive vehicles and he and his wife each have a route. I think delivery times on parcels especially is longer because senders are only paying for general parcel delivery instead of the faster delivery. Everybody is trying to save a buck. If you think we have it bad here, I just shipped a complete set of rear brakes to Haida Gwaii (50 lbs), will probably take three weeks by the time it catches the weekly ferry. The cost was $70, a lot less then other options.
I called the closest Post Office ( jordan, 5 klm east) and spoke with the Manager and while both of us read the same tracking page I outlined my grievance.
Her answer?....she tried to blame the part-time, minimum wage Avondale employee. I lost it on her.......I'll probably never get a piece of mail again......
For 10 days some jack-azz working out of the Jordan On. post office drove around with my parcel in his/her vehicle. I'm talking about someone who lives no more than 15 minutes from my doorstep.
From now on it's FedEx or Hank from Corner Gas but no more Canada Post.
