IMG_4906.JPG When I saw how pristine the other guy's shops were I felt compelled to add my own.  If my bench is neat and tidy, then I'm just not working on anything.  When I am, you can tell.

Waldo has left the building(disgusted). The rest of the garage is incredibly well organized. It does make using the bench a challenge.

yea, what the heck, looks like a perfectly good clock.

not to be an alarmist but, there has been 2 barn fires right in that area, otonabe- s. monaghan township, in the last month and the last one a week ago is under investigation.

-sept. 24/18  peterborough examiner

"STEWART HALL — A barn fire early Monday morning near Stewart Hall in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township has been deemed suspicious and is under investigation by Peterborough County OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office."

having coming from up that way i read the paper pretty much daily scanning the headlines before i read the obit's. poor timing on posting that pic, lol.

Geez, I forgot the dynamite clock was still there. I made it the first day of my retirement 10 years ago. It's just a block of wood and an old broom stick cut into segments, some wire and a clock. I thought I'd take it into work on my first week of retirement but the guys at work advised against it. Times have changed from when we could order a dynamite clock radio on the net. Those were the days. Remember the grenade sold to put on the reception desk for irate customers? Same idea. Times have changed so now the dynamite jus sits on the bench, forgotten. (until now) I hope to clean the bench someday especially since the build is almost finished.

As you can probably tell from Jim's (Cuddles) posts, he is a novice at this game but has jumped in with both feet. He works on his car far more hours then I spend on mine and he learns and does virtually everything himself. There may not be another car in the garage yet, but I wouldn't be surprised.....................

Joe, I don't think very many rodders are going to keep up with you. Just walking through your garage and collection was exhausting. Almost like going to the Speedway museum

I would feel right at home in your shop. I know I have a workbench under all my stuff, I saw it years ago when I built it. I wish I'd seen that dynamite clock when I retired from my government office job - would've been a great "see you later - maybe" gift to the staff.

Well I too have been at this hobby/adiction for about 50 years and I learned the solution to a bench that is covered with stuff many years ago.

Just build another bench

it was meant in jest cuddles or satirical if you like. i am from up in that area and try to keep up with the local news up that way and when i seen the pic and knowing roughly your location the first thing that came to mind was bad timing for that pic in that neighborhood is all, honestly. you are right about the times are a changing though, lol.  i think a lot of that reasoning is what year you were born and your location actually. i know some of the sh!t we use to pull up that way 50 years ago for sh!t's and giggle's would have you before the courts today, p.d.q. and that is sad but we let it happen.  lol

one of my brothers just moved in close to you below bensford bridge last month, he is not a gear head though. i am heading up today and tomorrow for a funeral in petbo to be a pallbearer for my last remaining aunt on dads side. she got somewhere i will never see at 99 years of age and born just down the road near you on the crowley line. small world, huh. r.i.p. aunt rita.

I can't take credit for the dynamite idea. There is an army surplus chain in the states called US Cavalry and they used to sell an alarm clock radio that looked just like what I had on the bench. And the grenade for irate customers was common enough that I remember seeing it in a few stores on their front counter. I remember a friend taking a flight out of Toronto and I gave him a paperback to read for the trip but I had slipped a small sheet of aluminum foil in the pages that I had shaped like a pistol. He said they gave him a thorough screening but that was all. Almost hard to believe that times sure have changed so much. Kind of sad. Especially if you happen to possess a slightly warped sense of humour.
