Does anyone have a machine for arcing brake shoes or know anyone who does, preferably in eastern Ontario?

Thanks

Warren

Haven't heard of anyone doing that in a lot of years.

See if Harry Wilson see still does it. Are the shoes that far out?

Was a shop in Hamilton. I could check if that would work for you

You'd be surprised how many people in the auto repair business have never heard of it. Nobody seems to have a grinder including Harry Wilson or Lawrence Roblin. I think they are all in private tool collections.

Thanks anyway
Warren

These people used to do it. I had linings replaced and arched for a antique motorcycle done by them

New website says they do antique stuff but no mention of arching.

http://phoenixfriction.ca/

this from their add on Kijiji

Description

We reline brake shoes and turn drums. The shoes are arced to fit the drum to achieve a perfect fit. You won't get this from new shoes either OEM or aftermarket. Our lining is superior and DOESN'T squeak!

We also reline while you wait for Raymond puck style clutch discs.

Phoenix Friction is a family owned business that has been in business for over 40 years.

We can reline any brake shoe, brake pad, clutch and emergency brake band. We also stock woven brake lining, flexible molded materials, flat sheet (both rigid & flexible) rivets, bonding adhesive, and truck and off-road brake block and disc brakes sets.

Bought it off kijiji , comfirmed pick up for Sunday , Guy doesnt know what it is , or if it is all there , he plugged it in and it works , so that is half the battle. LOL .Cant find much info on the bear model. For the price I will take a chance .

If it works and all there you are welcome to arch your shoes .

i am guessing it won't be too hard finding info on those old bear lathes joe. if memory serves me right they were a popular brand name back in the days when they use to make drums that would take a turn or two, not like today's throw away crap. good luck and here's hoping you got a winner bud.
