The speeding fine is bad enough but it's the insurance increase that bothers me. My wife was on her way home from work. She was behind a person that was 10K under the limit and all over the road like they were trying to text or roll something to smoke I'm not sure. This was on Carriage Rd. by the native smoke shops. Six months later the one insurance company we deal (dealt) with put the insurance up about 30%. I pointed out to them almost 50 years of safe, ticket free driving but they didn't care. TMJĀ Ā
Even better, when I got home there was a notification via mail regarding a speeding ticket my daughter received šš³
the few tickets I have gotten are for 10 km over so no points but Ā The last one I received was entered in incorrectly at the ministry office so I was registered doing 70 km over instead of 10 .
Ā I wondered why my insurance tripled and took me 3 months to straighten out and $600 bucks. Because someone couldnāt decifer a 1 .Ā
So ya, I donāt need the hassle thatās for sure.
I did learn besides not speeding š if your ticketed for anything your getting dinged points for its Ā worth fighting it to get it dropped down.
Now if youāll all exscuse me, I have to get on my Ā hypocritical high horse and call my daughter about her driving habits.Ā
I have heard that when you get a ticket involving points you overpay it by five or ten dollars. The court will send you back a cheque for the difference but you don't cash the cheque. This leaves a negative balance on the MOT records so the computer can not close the occurance and will remain open which will not show up with the insurance boards records..... small price to pay if it works and in this age of high tech I can see it working but have never tried it myself. My old cars are too slow........
