Almost 3 weeks now and it's still in the drink. Someone is dragging their feet/sitting on their hands. Don't want to claim responsibility is more like it.

So county council got off  "their hands" and decided to go with a temp bridge,in the OLD Location. Some folks will remember  the steel one, I do.

Temporary bridge coming to Port Bruce

bridgeElgin County councillors on Tuesday morning, March 13, ordered a temporary one-lane bridge installed to reconnect Port Bruce with Imperial Road, work that might be completed in as little as two months.

The bridge would be able to carry a normal highway load, including heavy fire trucks.

The bridge will go in to the east of the collapsed Imperial Road Bridge over Catfish Creek, where a former bridge was previously situated.

More information to come in the Wednesday, March 14 print edition of The Aylmer Express.

I would suspect its going to stay there till they drop the front of the bridge off the piling .They will be hard pressed to find any Engineer to sign off saying its safe to move . They have lucked out so far with zero dead.

Not sure but I thought,  I heard they going to bring in a crane to remove the truck.. That would be a heavy lift.. "what could go wrong" ?????

Maybe if they unload the gravel, they could just drive it out and use the teeter-totter principal. Ha.

Seems to me that they should , at least , winch the truck up to the high end of the bridge . Better for the truck and , just maybe " tip the scales " in favour of the bridge recovery -- But what do I know , as a non-injuneer --- LATER -- DON / FLEET 51

They unloaded the gravel yesterday. Two guys by hand shoveled it into a hopper on the end of a crane cable.
They were going to bring in a larger crane today to lift the truck out, then the MOL showed up. They want a engineers report re: the bridge movement when the truck is lifted off.

WoW they were going to move that without having someone to take the fall when things go south.  The MOE will show up next and want all the fluids out before they try to move it. Really that truck is peanut shells compared to the mess they are in .  Between killing someone or polluting the river any more then it already has there would be a lot of people signing off on that thing before I even got near it

no mucking sh!t. the g-d bridge is junk now anyway and they want some dip sh!t with a pinky ring for a report, oh-oh-oh---OH. this is the sort of stuff that has no reality to it. unless what ever was in the box was tainted with something weird i would of tripped the tailgate and drove it ahead for the crane to hook on and lift off. if that was one of my trucks it would of just been gone the next morning for a couple of extra grand for the crane at night. now what would of been 5-6 maybe 7 g's just turned into 40 plus g's if your lucky just to get the truck off a junk pc of cement and steel. don't ever think the price of the crane didn't just go up near 10 fold with that many guys standing around with their fingers up each others butts. guessing it was the MOE that showed up not the MOL or maybe both and each one scratching a pecking order.

They drained the liquids out of it a while ago.

Rick this is Elgin County that we are talking about. I built a home in that County ten years ago. They want a engineers report on everything. The only thing worse would be if it was in Central Elgin Township too.

it's getting that way here to rick, hastings county. they want an engineers ticket for a wrought iron railing for the new porch that isn't over 3ft high off the ground at the most i am going to make up. we are still dancing on that one. i think i found an out on it but it is just getting stupider every time you turn around anymore. yea i know, just quit turning around, lol.

Sorry about the advertisement at the start of the video . Looks like Ron Jones could be back in business soon.
I would think the County should be on the hook for the costs and the down time shouldn't they? Not sure about now but for the years I knew Ron he was a small outfit with one or maybe two employee's. That has to hurt the income level over the last month.
Another question,,,,, Why can't they rebuild the supports for the bridge and set the bridge back on? With an Engineers report of course!!!

now that's what you could call an interesting predicament, humph. about the only way mr jones could be up the creek is if the truck was over weight and most places are on 1/2 loads right now off the main through fares. you can bet the weight was checked at the scale he left from or after they took it off the truck. if i remember correctly i am pretty sure you can't get out of a commercial pit loaded today without being scaled for a couple of reasons. 1-they sell and usually haul it by weight and 2-the m.t.o. brought it in some years ago as guys were loading way over weight for the truck. this was done to bring some onus on the pit for letting them go that way. here is hoping for him.

When this all started a month ago,the truck was moving gravel from the Dexter Line road re location(shoreline erosion) to a wash out on Glen Erie Line in Bayham township. He was working for the County at the time. This was stated on TV the day it happened. wink

Check out the "Port Bruce Past & present F B page for more pictures.
