My wife Dottie and I are retired and have been for some years and as you will see we love traveling with our cars. We currently own a 1967 Oldsmoble 442 Red Convertible and have ordered a 2018 Mustang convertible to be delivered in April after the snow leaves.
We started off with our interest in cars by going to car shows. After awhile we were tired of sitting on hot asphalt in 90 degrees temperature. We then found car cruises that takes you on back roads to your destination. Also viewing unusual and different museums and points of interest.
I will describe our 2016 agenda that you might find interesting.
We started off in May with the Appalachian Beach Run III. The name represents that it starts in the mountains and ends on the beach. Our cities were Pigeon Forge, TN, Nashville, TN, Memphis, TN, Jackson, Ms and New Orleans.
The next was The Back to The Bricks Promo Tour in June. We started in Flint, Ypsilanti, Chesterfield, East Tawas, Grayling, West Branch and then back to Flint. The next was a big tour. The Canadian Hot Rod Tour Starting in July in Vaughn, Ont, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay, Kenora, Ont. Then onto Brandon, MB, Regina, SK, Lethbridge, AB, Banff, BC, Glacier National Park, Vancouver, BC, Victoria Island, BC. On the return trip we stopped in Spokane, WA, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Cody, WY, MT Rushmore and then back home.
In August we ran the OAC (Open Air Cruise) consisting of 200 convertible cars ONLY. We traveled up to, Escanaba, Mi and then to Green Bay, WI. We toured Door County for the weekend.
Our final cruise of the year in October was the Northeast Rod Run which is now a cancer Run. We started in Sunapee, NH, Booth Bay, ME, Bar Harbor, ME, Arcadia National Park, Franconia, NH and then Kingston, Ont before heading home. The fall colors were spectacular.
As you can see we have traveled a lot and have met some wonderful people who have now become friends. We have been doing this since 2012. We understand that this schedule is not for everyone but trust me, try some parts of a long cruise. As you can see, we were able to see the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.
There's an old commercial on TV that says "see your Chevrolet in the USA", but seeing the USA and Canada via the back roads its an experience you will never forget.
