Thanks to Beans for the recommendation of Port Perry Auto Glass - They did an awesome job on my glass and did it quickly and for a great price. They were easy to communicate with, as well.
So here's the first pics of my '59 Deluxe as it sits just out of reach of the sunlight at a transmission shop in Whitby. Body and glass is done, but the truck needs some leaks looked after now and interior floor and headliner worked on next year. It runs and drives, but is not running well and the rebuilt drum brakes all around are not very confidence-inspiring. Steering leaves much to be desired as well, but those can be dealt with next year. The goal before storage is to get the transmission leak worked out and swap to a rebuilt quadrajet I just found. I'd like to switch out these wheels for the original 15" ones I have with the stock chrome caps I as well, with a smaller tire, preferably a white wall. Gotta work on the needs first, before the wants, of course. And obviously, it needs some work on the stance too...plan is to install a drop axle I have, or just go with drop leaf springs next year a.s.a.p.
Happy end of season. I hope you all got to drive yours more than I did (3 times for me and they were not fun rides). Next year should be the best season for me since I got into this hobby 5 years ago. Here's to hoping so, anyways
Nice pics. I think the chrome reverse wheels look good on that truck. I don't think I would change them. The couple runs you had in it will inspire you to work on it over the winter..
Thanks everybody! I wasn't sure about the color - the silver paint was a bit of a deal from a friend, and the purple I chose as an ode to customs, since I may do a white seat in the future. At least the silver is neutral and the purple can be changed to most any color to go along with it by me or whoever may own this thing in the future. Hopefully I keep it, though.
If I did this all over again, I think I'd look for a 60' model, that way I would get some updated suspension in the front end. I'd also hold out for a less rough example to start with. Way too much time and money into metal work happened with this one that makes me sick to my stomach, pretty much.
