I managed to get every thing I needed for my '55 hardtop through this guy who has his shop near Lindsay Ontario. He is very knowledgeable and will also ship to you. I picked up my heavy duty rad good for a big block here. Years ago he was located in Ajax, then moved to Little Britain.
and it's all good. I put that link up so ya know the addy. I've never needed a shroud. Even the Grand cruise up and down the main drag that takes 3 hours in 90 degrees. Ha !
I did switch fans from those old tin-foil thin aluminium blades to an 18" fle1718b. This fan is awesome.
OK, I had to make a spacer block, so sue me.
I thought I'd chime in about this because in the link above for the Jav, you'll notice the 6 cyl at the top and the 8cyl at the bottom are the same core dims. (copper/brass that I use)
The 6 pump flowed a higher volume then the 8 in there original form. Meaning the rad would be the same or larger. . That only leaves making the connections work and adding a shroud most of the 6's never had one but the fan needs to be centred with only enough room to get the belt past the fan face and the rad or it won't work.
Is there not a difference in the mounting of the 6 cyl vs v8 rads for the tri 5's? I am thinking that the 6 cyl rad is in front of the rad support and the v8 rad is on the inside. Not sure how much of a difference except if you move the v8 forward.
I get my $150 3 core aluminum made in china rad this weekend, let me know if you want pics of the build quality. It was $150 usd with the electric fan attached on ebay and shipped to my nfny mail box for free. It is for my 59 chevy truck. They will have a 55-57 specific one as well.
