Hey guys I have a question about a company I came across and there rear brake kit. Muscle car brakes.com. My car is now running good times at the track but I feel the factory stuff should be looked at and its time to upgrade the brakes. Installing Wilwood 2 piston calipers shortly but the rear is my focus. Disc set up isn't a option.
This is for a rear drum upgrade (GM) Just got some Aluminum drums for heat and weight . The kit has a trick set of shoes and spring hardware to pull the shoes from the drum less friction etc. The one upgrade is the wheel cylinders that have a greater volume so theres less pedal effort?
So with that ,will the portioning valve act the same way because its metered by %..?. I'm thinking it shouldn't change . Or really am I wasting my time with this deal . Stuff isn't cheap...but the safety aspect has to be considered.
Your rear wheels only do about 10% of the stopping. I'd say with a large rotor and dual piston calipers, you have maximized your stopping power. Back off your rear shoes a bit if you are afraid of drag. I don't see a proportionate return for the expenditure.
