I'm looking for a cheap short term solution for my bench seat in my roadster.

I have good springs. Just need to cover them for now to drive it around this summer.

Anyone happen to have an old seat cover kicking around I could use for a pattern to make my own?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Beans go to a wrecking yard and pick up a mid 90's Chrysler mini van middle seat It fits like a glove. You may have to build stands for it but what the heck!!!

Thanks Rochie, I already have everything there ready to go, just missing something to actually cover the springs. Worst case scenario I could just cover with foam and blanket for right now I guess. Trying to avoid building something.

A neighbor of mine is almost done building a 31 glass coupe hotrod and that's exactly what he used - fit great!

Nick.. I wish you was closer.. I have the seats for my roadster done in white Leather.. I would loan them to you for the summer as I know I will not be getting mine done this year for sure.. I have enough on my plate this year.. I don't want to sell or break it up as I do think I still might finsih this car.. but not untill Diane has been placed into a care facility and that will be another year yet.. SO if you wanted to borrow my seats you welcome..

Hi Chuck - I don't think I want to borrow white leather seats. I'd ruin them for sure! lol

You could throw a mexican blanket over them.. I would not worry about a little dirt.. It will add patina to them.. but it's up to you.. I am offering..

Would it help you if I was to put a greasy hand print on them first..biggrin biggrin I might have a piece of leather big enough to cover one.. I will have to look in the shop.. I used to have a piece about 4x6 that I had for making a couple snowmobile seat covers..It was a beige /brown.. I will look around upstairs in the shop.. I don't remember if I still have it but I will look this week-end..

I used the dodge mini van seat idea as well. A perfect fit. But I altered mine to fit over the transmission hump so the back remains a bench but the bottom is now two buckets. The frame took a little cutting and welding and the foam a bit of cutting and I removed the thread from the fabric which gave me an exact lay out for the pattern of each peace. My new vinyl seat cover fits perfect. I'd offer you the old fabric but I threw it out after keeping it for a year since it was so dirty and my seat was done. Sorry about that.
