I have been criticized by some for my lack of pictures during a build, im not much for pictures, I like making progress, so ive decided to make something from my 1.5 ton c30. I took this truck on part trade for my cab over, its a pretty mint truck, 350 small block 4 speed standard. many years ago I saw a truck in a mini truck magazine like mine, same style and the guy had narrowed the rear diff and has the duals under the box sides, no flares, so ive decided to emulate that idea. except im going motorhome rear axle and 19.5 wheels all around, so far ive chopped the rear frame and finished narrowing the rear diff. it will be on springs by the weekend. I hope to drive this by November.
ill say one thing, that diff has 5/8 wall tubing, took a lot of filler rod to tig that sucker back together.
drop spindles should be here this week, will be slammed but not undrivable, was going to do air ride in the rear but since it will be a driver I will be going leafs in the rear
finally getting somewhere, rear frame tacked together, springs installed, shortened driveshaft. should be rolling by the weekend under its own power again.
sorry didn't post much progress so heres the beef, running and driving, box is on it, fuel injected engine thanks to dave macd for his help, runs and drives mint. hope to be driving by next week if all goes well and the parts arrive in a timely manner.
I've always been a fan of that generation Chev/GMC since I had my '68 should look top drawer with the dropped spindles. When are you going to spring for "Super Singles" for the rear . A rattler with an Allison would be great for a work truck but maybe not so much for a daily driver . Looks good Fatstax

ya it fights you a bit, demands a firm hand to handle it. no pics of the frame sorry to let you down, lets just say it will outlast the rest of the truck, all stick welded of course.
