I'm considering buying a four post hoist. Anyone have any leads on deals or someone good to deal with?

Anyone know who the guy was at Ancaster Swap with a advertisement about hoist?

Thanks for your help

Sorry I didn't explain very well.  Just a 4 post,, 8 or 9000 pound. One that I can put the casters under it to  move it around. Most of the time I will be using it to build on. It's too hard for the old fat guy to get up and down.

I bought a Danmar? 7,000 lb., extra height and width for 3 G's delivered. A couple years ago.
It came with the casters that allow you to lift it and move it.
Also came with plastic drip pans and a heavy steel plate that slides along for jacking.
They are in Vancouver. But there may be a dealer near you.
Look for Danmar.
The steel is powder coated from China. The pump and cables are from USA.
About 1800 .lbs.
It's been very useful.

Princess Auto did have them for $2999.00

I bought mine from the Lift Super Store in Oakville. Have had it for about 6 years. Love the 4 post. It is also steel from China and U.S.A. pump and motor. I got the 220V as it was another 1/2 H.P at the time. Also got the aluminum ramps which I suggest much nicer if you have to take them off very often. The posts are 84" high and I got the narrower of the 2 he offered. Only a few inches but I have British cars as well. Only thing with this hoist is I can't get a 2008 and newer Chev truck on. It is too wide. I didn't get the scissor lift at the time and it's about $1000. now but in hind sight I should have. Much easier with smaller or lower cars. I have adapted around it so not worth the expense now. Was an extra $400 for them to install. They advertise on the inside page of Old Autos. I did have to replace a cable but that was my fault. Shoot me an email if you have any specific questions..

I bought a US made Back Yard Buddy 4 post 9,000lb lift a few years ago and I am extremely pleased with it. It is a solid 4 post design and at the time was the only one on the market that due to the design did not need to be lagged (mounted) to the floor (that said, I did anyway). Do your research and really investigate the off-shore stuff.

Does your backyard buddy have the top rail with extensions that go out past the hoist so you can pull an engine/trans on a 4 post and then wheel it clear to set in a trailer or whatever. Seen one in Hershey about 10 years ago like that. Was very impressive but about $7500. complete at the time.

Hi Don, no I did not opt for the hoist option (as per the pic below) however it can be added at a later date. have a look at their site for details and specs. http://www.backyardbuddy.com/

I fit full assembled through a single car garage door...

I bought mine from a dealer out of Niagara Falls.

Clarks sell the Direct hoist which I have as do several of my friends. Been very reliable and does all that I could ask. Google Direst lift in Mississauga. They are the distributor and probably have the best price. They always have show specials at Motorama.

I picked mine up and three of us had it assembled in about four hours

I am thinking with Martens wood working skills he could build a pretty slick one off from wood.. His skills in the pieces he has posted look much more complicated than a ramp with four corner posts and some aircraft cable to slide up and down..biggrin smile

There's an idea. It could look like the roller coaster rides from years ago with all the bridging underneath. biggrin biggrin

I always thought it would be easier to push the car on its side to work on the bottom. Make sure you lay down some old tires first to pad the side of the car. I have seen pictures were a guy just propped up the car on some 2 x 4 posts as well.

I called Clarkes southern truck parts to inquire about the hoist for $2195.
He said you must have a old flyer they haven't been that price for a long time. I told him I don't have a flyer I'm looking at your website.
Then I got the oh ah,,,,,, yea that price has changed it $2995+shipping +tax. I'm thinking then why not post the correct price on your site.
I went with another company 20 miles away,, same unit free shipping.
Thanks for all the help
