lodging in the g.t.a. area

there is a young lad down the road from me, belleville area, who is a diesel mechanic and got hired on with ontario hydro awhile ago as such down here in a repair depot for them but with the way their seniority stuff works he has been working in the g.t.a. for awhile now. he has been making the trip from belleville to newmarket on a daily basis now for some time and i told him he was crazy to be doing it and why not just stay up there somewhere through the week. he does get x number of dollars per day for being away but it isn't enough to cover a motel and food for a day so he makes the drive.  that and the fact he is a country boy i know he would be nervous staying in any motel up there that he could afford to make it work so to speak.

he is a good clean guy, non smoker, mid thirties, single and straight from a good family and a good mechanic as i have used him to do some work on my trucks over the years and i am wondering if someone up there wouldn't want to pick up a couple of bucks per day or week if they have a bed that hasn't been used for awhile. i will vouch for his integrity and guarantee you won't have to worry about having anything of value going missing. it might just work in someones best interest to have a mechanic hanging around for a bit also. a win/win with a couple of bucks sort of thingy.

anyway, i am just throwing this out there and i wouldn't be doing this if i couldn't vouch for the kid. lol seems funny calling someone in their mid thirties a kid, dam i am getting old. lol i remember back in the early 70's making the trip from peterboro into the finch ave, keele st area on a daily basis when i got hired by esso to drive truck on the gas trains before i eventually moved up but making this trip in today's traffic from 75 t0 80 miles farther is just nuts in my mind. he owns his house down here and it will just be a matter of time till he gets some more time in and he can stay in this area.

let me know and i will get you's hooked up.   thanks,  rick

Rick good for you posting this!! I hope it works out. Just a suggestion (and I don't know the area at all) but there is still 3-4 months of camping time left.

humph, that probably has some merit to it and i will mention it to him. i was just talking to an old guy down here who has an older e-350/450 camper van that he wants out of his lane way. i don't know what shape it is in but he's a mechanic. buy it, fix it, use it and sell it when your done. the guy only wanted a 1000.00 bucks for it, lol, probably end up making a couple of $$$.

If he is interested in camping in Toronto, the Glen Rouge camping on Kingston road at the Scarborough/Picton border. There is also public transportation from there to the city. It is a great site run by the city of Toronto.

thanks warren for the lead. lets see what comes up when i yak with him on the weekend about a camper. i know of a couple of places north of newmarket around the holland marsh also. if this camper angle thing works it would be a matter of getting it up there and parked and have a buddy bring him back so he could drive up once a week to it and still have his own wheels to drive back and forth to work and back home on the weekends. there is no way on god's green earth would i want to be taking public transit from the rouge area up to newmarket and back every day. years ago maybe, but not today. it's a different world up there now bud.
