IMO Canada Post could shut down and I wouldn't even notice except the junk mail would stop.

The only time I use Canada Post is if I want something lost or mangled. No sympathy here.

I use CP almost weekly for sending parcels and receiving from the US and Canada. Have never had an issue. I get a little tired of postal union rhetoric. There is no doubt that at times a posties life can be hell, but that happens everywhere and they are damn well compensated for it and retire pretty well too, usually in their fifties and like to boast about it. If a parcel gets damaged, blame the union guys from all the stories I hear from former carriers. Of course they make a profit, what else would you expect. Not a great margin but at least they pay their way and I would expect the people put in charge are obligated in this changing world to continue to generate revenue. By the way, when I lived in Ottawa in 1970, I had to go to a central neighbourhood box to collect my mail. I did as well when I was rural in Fenelon falls in 2000. Regardless how you get your mail, today you can thank the junk mail for paying a hefty part of the bill and you can decline to receive it, but then how would your wife know that Charmaine is on sale at Sobeys.

Yesterday afternoon my son had a knock at the door it was one of the parcel delivery firms. The guy said sign here I have a parcel for you. The guy carried in a surround system and a large screen TV from Best Buy. The driver was gone in a flash. My son thought maybe his girlfriend had ordered something. It turns out he had all this stuff that a retired guy on the next street had paid for. My son took it to the rightful owner on the next street.

So it's not just CP with problems

You can stop "unaddressed" junk mail by putting a small note in your mailbox, telling them to stop.
Or a red round sticker.
It works out here.

Ive never belonged to a union and for most of my life have really seen no need for them . Personally witnessing the rape of the middle class in the last 10 years in the name of profit for the few Ive changed my mind . Really asking for a raise that almost keeps up with inflation and not to screw new workers is unreasonable?. There isn't a plant in ontario that I've been in that new workers are not getting 10 to 15 dollars an hour less for doing the same job as the guy standing next to them
