Anybody have any experience with Duracool, Redtek or any of the other HC type substitutes for R134A.

What is the problem with 134.. I have used Dura-cool before with no problem but, that was way back when we first started doing aftermarket refits or installing aftermarket units.. But I prefer the 134 .. except I don't know if it's available in small cans.. A 30lb'er of 134 is not that costly and if you do a couple tops for anybody you easily got your money back..I am not sure the Dura-cool is compatible with 134. I do not like mixing the two myself..I have used the redtec leak stuff and it has worked well with no problem with any I used it for, although that has only been a couple.

My understanding is that they are not compatible and I think Dura Cool is on the market at self help stores as a league refrigerant to the general public to buy and use with out a permit from our government to handle refrigerant. I do not find you get the cooling temperatures out of that or Redteh that your get out of 134a. Now saying that X the boarder and the auto supply shops have shelf after shelf of 134 in cans all shapes and sizes all trying to say there product is the best at prices form 3.99 for a twelve oz container and up

Duracool and redtek are both hydrocarbon (propane) based refrigerants. I would stick with R134A.
Do not mix.
