For my fuel cell, how is the fuel line going into the cell done?  I have a piece of 1/4" alum that goes over the hole in the cell and no holes currently.  My son can fab something for this but need to tell him what to do.  Does this make sense the way I am saying it?  The goal is to run the fuel line from the cell to the mechanical fuel pump.

Thanks

Does your fuel cell have any outlets at the bottom on the lower side anywhere . If so you should be able to install a line from there to your mechanical pump. then a line to carb with a fuel filter in the line from the pump to the carb.. If you have no outlets then that's another question does the hole in the top for the sender unit have any pipe that is attached to the sender with a small sock on the pipe.. if you are not sure could you post a couple pictures of what you have to work with..

I have an outlet on the bottom. Is that legal to use as that would be the easiest and I can cap the top hole? Someone told me that I can only use it for a drain.

I would think that it is a fitting for a drain on the bottom if you were to use it for the fuel supply to the pump you would need to make sure the pipe sticks up about an inch or more into tank so you don't get any debris from sediment in your fuel line. It really should come off the sending unit for the fuel guage. What do you have for a sending unit.. there should be a pick-up tube on the sending unit that sticks down into the tank with a sock on and your fuel supply line should be part of the sending unit... Except I am not real familiar with a fuel cell or how they position a fuel sender do they have a well or something to fit the sending unit into.. I would like to see the sending unit

Here are a couple of pics of the cell.  One with the fuel pump in and one with it sitting on top.  What I was thinking of doing was taking out the elec. fuel pump and replacing it with a plate and line only to go to the mech. pump on the motor.  The other holes, one in the middle is the fill up hole, the other is for the sending unit, don't have one yet.  So the original question is what do I need to do to make a line into the cell to get the fuel out?IMG_4056.JPGIMG_4057.JPG

It looks like you have two pickup options, either from the white tube from the electric fuel pump or from the top of the tube. Both holes are threaded for a nipple so I would use both. Bring lines from both nipples to a T and in the event of a failure, you have a backup. A lot of guys running mechanical fuel pumps use the electric pump to prime the fuel system. Just put a switch in the power line. The nipple up in the corner is probably a return line. Get 25' of nice flex line and you've got it made in the shade.
