Hey boys & girls..............if anybody is going to Macs in Lockport in the near future, can you get the plastic type of washer that goes between the steering wheel, and the horn ring?? They are around $8.00. I tried to order one, and have it shipped here, but they want $42.00 US  blehnono  to ship to Ontario. B.S.  If you're heading down there, please PM me.

BTW, Macs is apparently moving to Florida this fall, so if you want something, get it now.

$42 on $8 part this is a good example. A couple of weeks ago I tried to order parts from NPD (National Parts Depot). I gave the person on the phone all the information of what I wanted. I gave him the address of where to ship the parts in Port Huron MI. When I gave him the billing address he said that I couldn't have parts shipped to an address different from my billing address. I complained and got an Email back of a form to fill out. They wanted a copy of my drivers licence (with everything visible) phone number, address, mastercard number and picture. All this just to order $100 in parts. Well this is a good example of why some have parts sent to a US address.  Unfortunately NPD doesn't work with us on this problem. I told NPD that I wasn't about to give all this info so a 12 year old with a laptop can access it.

John sorry I derailed your thread.

The thing that really burns my a$$ is that this washer can be put in an envelop and dropped in the mail. Like you said, Joe, 'azzwipes'

I once bought a gallon jug of cleaner - $45 for item + another $40 including Canadian Shipping, HST & Broker Fees.

Now I just drive down to Port Huron, have parcels shipped to (see link), for a cheap handling fee of $3/box:
canamparcel.com/
- my Visa card has my home billing address plus an alternate USA address (2937 Lapeer Rd. Port Huron, MI 48060)

Grocery shop at Kroger's and fill up on cheap petro / drive home.

I once questioned the UPS driver about the outrageous brokerage fees and shipping. He told that once I figured out the code on his jacket and the truck my expense might go down.. I looked at him , Code, what code.. he looked at me and smiled and said UPS...stands for "USE PURALATOR STUPID"  biggrin biggrin

The last time I ordered parts from the USA, I used a company called Cross Border Pickups. They provide a mailing address in the US and I had Speedway Motors deliver the parts to their address at no charge, and they brought it across the border for pickup in Mississauga for a small fee. There is no brokerage charge and it only takes me 15 minutes to drive to Mississauga to pick up the parts. It saved me the time to drive to the border plus the fuel I saved.

The latest up date......................Janice Miss T Bucket, is going to Buffalo on Thursday, to p/u her new rad, and offered to stop in at Macs to grab needed part. I called them to make sure that they had the correct one in stock.

Haven't met Janice yet, but already I like this lady!!!

Warren.........if for some reason things don't go as planned, I'll give George a call.

If that's the part,,;, John said earlier it could be sent in an envelope.

Don't send it in an envelope!!!! After the envelope goes through the sorting machines you would be in the market for another part.

Imo

just wanted to publicly thank Janice (Miss T Bucket) for stopping in at Macs, To get needed part for the horn on my 61 Ford. Not only did she get said part, but brought it home to Brantford, put it in a bubble pack, and paid the postage to get it here. And she has never met me to find out if I am a loser, or a decent guy (fat chance)
Gotta tell you, she is definitely, one of the good guys (gals) in the 'old car' group.
