So, I've wanted a t bucket since I the first time I ever laid eyes on one. You folks can build one in a weekend - I don't have that skill. I have come to realize this dream comes with a few responsibilities. I can do the basics, am willing to learn, (can get hubby to help but he thinks I've boarded crazy train with this) but I need a little guidance which I'm hoping to get here. These are not cars you bring to the shop....apparently as I have learned. You take the piece off and bring them to specific people lol getting it certified was a treat. I've called a few parts places I found on line, mostly in the US and trying to describe what I want got me a "sweetheart, sell it before you get hurt" which in his defence I think I deserved Lol
I need to find the rubber strip that goes between the windshield top glass and bottom glass, my fancy windshield wiper with the hand crank needs to be replaced and here's the technical question part.....those wing like things on the windshield is missing a piece. So if someone could be kind enough to tell me if there is a catalogue I can order or a web site I can look at, I would really appreciate it.
Your Welcome. For the picture.. Thanks for Joining our shop. Nice clean looking "T" First off You have large B-lls for going out and getting a Hot-rod to live your dream. I hope your hubby is helpful and willing to support you..Get him to join this board if he should need any help.. That was not to take anything away from you. It's your dream. I sure hope it turns into that great dream for you. Joining here was another smart move. We have members here from every walk of the hot-rod scene, With thousands of hrs of experience.. None of us could build one in a week-end, you watch too many phony car shows I am sure you are in good hands with the members on here. We will be glad to help you with your learning curve. Be patient some times people are busy with life and only get on once or so a week. I am sure our "House Mother Janice" will be along to welcome you. She is a great asset to the board and she has been with us for several years and put up with a lot of razzing from us..All in fun..I hope your not here to-day and gone tomorrow. I would suggest you poke around the site at some of the topics check out events, and friends of the ELTA as they have a great and I do mean Great summer bash coming up in Aug, Bring your Husband and meet lots of us.. Thanks for coming over and joining us...Have fun and ask for anything and somebody will help..
Oh yah, What's wrong with the exhaust that you were wanting to change it??
Thank you for the kind welcome. lol hubby is great, just can't see the point of climbing in and out of a car with no doors, and worries because this thing passes everything but a gas station With very little effort. I have been "cruising" around the site and I am impressed...I have no idea how I'm going to figure out the horse power calculator...or if I should even try lol, but first thing tomorrow I'm going to check out my engine code to see what year it is.
Re: the exhaust pipes. Snoopy as I affectionately refer to him, needs some cosmetic work. The chrome has some bare spots and needs tlc. I have rubbed every piece of chrome til it shines, but there are some areas that were not looked after very well. I want to replace and repair what needs to be done then he has to get painted as the fibreglass body looks like he's a turtle.
Don't know if you are old enough to have watched 77 Sunset Strip , from back in the day , but actor Edd Byrnes who played " Kookie " used to run and jump in his T because of lack of doors ....let's see you try that one !!

I would suggest that you not get in a hurry. Drive him for a bit , make a list of the issues as you see them and stuff needed. There is a good club out of Brantford that would be able to point you to a good shop that could help you with service . There are also others that may come recommended that can help.. Roche on here will maybe know a name of somebody from the Brantford club that might help.. Also there several swap meets coming up that you might want to attend to find parts, or connections to people who deal in T-Buckets stuff The next best one I am thinking would be Bothwell First Sat in AUG I think.... I would not worry about cosmetic stuff right now.. Make sure of safety first.. Cosmetics are unimportant at this point.. get some miles on it till you get a good feel for the car.. Worrying about cosmetics will eat up your money if your impatient. One more thing if your close and familiar with crossing the boarder you should find a place on the American side that accepts shipping so you have any American stuff shipped to that address and then pick it up your self.. You will save a lot of money.. Most things shipped to your Canadian Address will shock you with brokers fees they are outrageous..

If I tried that I'd be in the "shop". I pretty much crawl in and have had a couple of not so graceful entrances - one that split the seam on my pants and gave me a new appreciation for yoga folks.

You should be able to have some type of step plate mounted off the frame that would allow you to make a graceful and safe entry to your ride..Possibly even install a grab bar so you don't hurt yourself or take Yoga lessons just to go cruzin..

Welcome aboard, lucky for me my wife has also been bitten with the car bug. Not hot rods (though she likes them) But we bought her a little Crossfire sports coupe back in 2010 and have been down to the Tail of the Dragon several times, and met 100's of like minded enthusiasts and stay in touch.
So keep up the enthusiasm and get out to meet some people, that's the best way to learn and it's fun!
I know once my Truck is on the road I will be getting out to cruise nights, ELTA aswell as as many other Hot Rod events.
Great hot rod family here to help you with your dream car along the way. Don't be afraid to ask questions/for help. Or chime in if you have knowledge to pass on.
It is apparent to me that cool lady's with a need for speed share the name Janice
Welcome from the North shore of lake Erie, Great looking little ride that you have there,..alway's loved the T-Buckets, from the first one I ever seen back in the '60's,...I just don't fit into them very well. You might also consider placing an ad in Kijiji, under " Classic Cars ",...for any parts that you require,..there are a few T-Buckets and T-Bucket projects out there for sale,..and quite possible the owners may have some extra parts laying around that they would part with. Don't be shy about placing an ad in Kijiji Classic cars for parts,...seems that there is a whole lot more parts in there for sale than there is Classic Cars now days. Enjoy the Forum,...great place,..and equally great people in here.

Thank you. Funny how something you see turns into a dream or obsession lol I looked through kijiji and saw a few things. Im just getting to know him and not quite sure what I need or what is compatible yet, not quite confident on having conversations about parts yet lol But I'll get there I hope! This board has been so great without all the help I've received I'd be lost.
Welcome aboard , we are all here for you whenever you need help!mHere is where I started off with the notion that hot rodding was cool, owned this car for all of about a weekend when I was 12,lol... Sure would be funny if it turned out to be the same car... I am 49 now by the way! Chris.
