Today I tried to order parts for a '68 Ford. I called NPD. I told him what I wanted I think there was a half a dozen things. He wanted part numbers which I gave.He then asked my name and address. I told him the billing address was different from the address I wanted it shipped to. I told him I wanted it shipped to Port Huron Mi.

He said I can't do that unless I have ordered from them before. I'm thinking that's like we won't hire you because you don't have any experience..                           I said there is no way around this? He said it is company policy. The 10-15 minutes spent was wasted.  I do understand their concern but their solution is not customer friendly in my opinion.  All the parts I have bought over the years from Jeg's, Bob Drake, Carpenter's and different MOPAR dealers and the list goes on I have never had this problem. I fired off an Email and promptly got one back. They wanted me to fill out this form with a copy of my drivers licence with all info on it legible. So now they want my picture, name, address,Email address, phone number, driver's licence number, height weight, colour of hair or lack of, mastercard number, what kind of a car I drive and where I have parts shipped to. All that just to buy about $100 worth of parts. I said you want all that info just to spend money there. Then all my info sits in your system so some 12 year old with a laptop can help himself to it. That sounds like a recipe for identity theft to me. Thanks but I'm not interested.

SCC in Port Huron is a parcel pickup location. It is where Canadians have things shipped to to save on the unrealistic  brokerage fee's. They handle sometimes 10,000  parcels a month. This is not a new practice and obviously it is common.

I ran into the same issue trying to bring in some parts for a Delta shaper/molder. It's just Uncle Sam protecting their own. Seems like a pretty stupid policy myself 'cause I'll just go around them.

i have heard of this sorta thing before but it was a long time ago. the fix was to inform the credit card company that these form of transactions will be happening. it was a 1 time call at the time.
