A couple of pics of the turd after un-loading at home ; doesn't look terrible does it ? ( one rod hanging out , manifold held together with hi-temp silcone plus a few cosmetic issues but it is a tractor ) . I dropped the engine oil and there would be more viscocity in molasses in Feburary - It didn't look as if service was ever on the agenda for this poor F124 continental .  So far I have acquired a rebuilt F165 Continental from a "70's era Hyster lift truck - Steve Radford back in Londesboro had good manifold for me . I have to drop the oil pan and change the flywheel bolts to accommodate the heavier ****shutt flywheel/clutch ass'y but that has to wait until my kid brings back my cherry picker. Once back together with a little fresh paint this 1962 turd might shine just a little . For those not in the know ****shutt tractors were built in downtown Brantford Ont. till '62 when they were purchased by Oliver . IMG_1853.JPGIMG_1857.JPG

It looks a bit like my Massey 135. That I ran out of Diesel fuel yesterday while I was working in the field..Had to get Red-oak to come and steer it for me while I towed it home to the shop,.. Where it still sits.. I need to replace the on/off tap from the tank.  It leaks and I forgot to check the fuel before I went to work in the field..Time to fix it while I am out of diesel fuel.. Good thing there is a tractor wrecking yard just a couple kliks away.. fawcettes.. I need to get away from this computer for a couple days and get some work done in the shop.. I have a couple days work to get my coupe ready to drive.. need some exhaust work done.. I do have this odd tool , I have a really good Ben Pearson pipe bender .. has all the tooling for all end operations and I have all the cards for exhaust going back to 60s..I really want to get working on my street-rod but the other stuff has to be first ..one of my rules.

Funny this one has your name on it.

While we're talking tractors, I'll tell you about the one that is still on the farm. In 1963 my brother bought a new Ford County Super Six. These were built in England, and are a 4 wheel drive unit, with all tires being the same size, but not the typical articulate steering. They have a drive shaft coming off each rear axle, that runs the front tires, and tractor turns like normal 2 wheel drive units. This tractor put out 88hp new, but he thought it was a bit under powered in the tougher spots in the field, so he added a propane kit that injected propane into the intake air, and this brought the unit up to 100hp. All was well but when we rebuilt the power train, he added a turbo unit, and that kicked the unit up to 145hp. Now we're gettin somewhere. The trans on the tractor was a 4 speed, with a high/low, so you had a 8 speed tractor. He wasn't too impressed with the tranny, because there was too much ratio difference, so he adapted a Oliver/Kocshutt over and under between the engine, and trans. These units have 3 ranges; over, direct, and under. After all the smoke cleared, he ended up with a 145hp engine, with a total of 24 gears forward, and 5 reverse. Unfourtunately, he passed away in 1977, but his wife refused to get rid of that tractor. She died about 8 years ago, and now the farmis owned by my nephew, and niece. The tractor is still there, and still gets used on occasion, but since the land is rented out, it doesn't do any of the heavy stuff anymore.
