Just thought I would post up for one of us in hospital .. Mike Lowden Ragtop/ 47convertible is in the hospital he has had some health problems for the last little while .. I got this e-mail this morning so I thought I would share it here..his spirits seem to be good and it sounds like he is sharing a room with funny old dude..biggrin.. I will send him a link to this thread later to-night..I was thinking we could send him some get well wishes from all of us..Thanks

In the shop for a while with this breathing problem. They wanted to shove a camera down my throat today for a looksee but it turns out I'm allergic to the stuff they freeze your throat with. Nice time to find out. Thought I was gonna choke on the gas. Now they're going to do it tomorrow with I freezing. Sounds fun huh?

 Got this:  this morning:

 

Still in the hospital. They couldn't do the test the second try either. Some blockage in the osophegas and swollen vocal cords (probably from the previous attempt) so moved from my beautiful private room in the cancer centre to a double in respitory. This room would look appropriate in a scene from "postcode" or some '40's horror film. That's when it was last painted I'm sure.  My new roommate is about 90 and keeps trying to hit on the nurses while he lies there in his diaper. He thinks we're at the casino  with a cast of thousands of our friends but continually calls the cops (without bothering to use an actual telephone) because someone is telling him he must leave. Once in a while he pages the nurse to call them for him and asks me to get the hell out of here. He wants to know if we're going to his or my house first. Then he starts saying goodnight to everyone of our partygoers Specially the ladies) and when he's done he always says "Goodnight HoneyBuns" to me. I've taken to sleeping with one eye open!

My name's Mike. Most of you probably know me. I have the "T for Too" chopped and channeled '26 T coupe that's a copy of the old Tecumseh Ontario based "T for Two" built by Roy DesJardins back in the 50's. I was nuts about that car as a 10 year old kid and vowed to own it or copy it one day. It was just picked as one of Hot Rod Magazine's top traditional cars of 2015 so that's pretty cool. My present project is a '63 Chevy 2 coupe that's from Texas and has been stored in a local mueum for a lot of years. I'm leaving it very stock looking but it now has a 406" SBC and a 700R4 trans with a posi rear end and power disc brakes. Thanks Chuck for the new board - I'll be watch'n and contribute what  can.

Met Mike last summer at a cruise in Windsor ....even though we live fairly close to each other , we hadn't met until that cruise . Mike mentioned that he was going in for an operation and Rochie told me Mike was doing OK after that ....didn't hear about the latest setback until now . Get well , MIKE !!

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Got home Friday but I need to drag an oxygen line around with me and it looks like that'll be for some time. Never smoked in my life. This is a side effect of cancer treatment that I finished up a few months ago. Hate losing time with two hot rods apart and the season here.

Mike: It's great to see you home again.. I can appreciate dragging a hose around .. I need one to sleep at night. it's called a C-pap.. but I can leave it hanging on my bed post during the day..You just take care and take your time.. Not being able to breath is not good.. I wanted to say sucks but , it seemed like an oxymoron..Take care.. We need you around here..

Mike, if you want to keep active get yourself a shoulder pack that is meant for carrying a camera tripod. They hold a "D" oxygen cylinder perfectly (mine is a Manofroto sp?). Depending on your flow rate you could work around the shop for several hours on one tank. Just stay way from open flames!

Your oxygen supplier might also be able to provide you with a back pack.

Need more information just send me a PM. I have been on the stuff since 2006.

Thank you. The bag they give you with the tanks is a PIA and really limits what you can do. I'm planning to get out to the shop today to get a few little items off my list. I need to at least get the coupe on the road. My brother has volunteered to give me a hand today so things are looking up. Can't thank him enough.

I am stunned to hear this. Mike was a great guy . He did a lot for this hobby . He will be missed by many of his friends . He has been  battling some tough times for most of this year ,but I was thinking he had it licked and was back on the mend. This is just terrible news and I am greatly saddened by this.. My sincerest condolence's to his family and friends ... R.I.P. Mike..

Mikey was an old friend and all around great guy. He and I had a lot of good times and a couple of head banging days trying to get the "T" tri-power running right. I was lucky enough to visit him in Met hospital twice. I was going to go visit with him last Friday, but got the call. I will miss him greatly. I was at the funeral today with Mark Rogerson. There were a lot of people there and a lot of hometown friends I don't get to see often enough. Great service at his place of worship. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Had pleasure of meeting Mike on a few occasions,a really down to earth gear head who'd give shirt from his back for a fellow rodder.I know Wayne has known Mike for sometime,and he will be missed..Godspeed Mikey...

Never met Mike but had the pleasure of seeing "T for Two" get it's badge at the ELTA Bash a few years ago. Snapped a few pic's of it and sent them to Mike.
