I did the on line stuff with Hagerty's for a quote on insurance. For my truck with a value of 38K and $500 deductible with the modes they asked about I am looking at about $550. Driving about 4K per year. Stored at my place. Is that reasonable. I thought most guys were paying around $250/year.
In many cases they are double. Try Zehrs, that is who I use for 7 vehicles and the house. Great rates. 62 Studebaker insured for 40K is an annual rate of $280.00
I use Hagarty because they seem to be the least restrictive.
I may have to look into someone else when I get the 38 on the road. Restrictions are the big thing for me. I don't want to be told to only drive my car to shows and back.
This is what my insurance company says and it doesn't differ from what Lant/Hagerty told me when I was with them.
The automobile can only be used or driven for hobby and/or collector car purposes. This includes being used or driven in exhibitions, parades, tours of similar functions organized by a properly constituted automobile club, car shows, including driving directly to and from one of these events; or for the purpose of repair, testing, or demonstration for sale. An occasional personal day outing, such as a pleasure drive, is also permitted. For longer outings the insured must contact the broker.
When I went to the Hagerty website they ask you how much the car will be used, several choices available. Guessing that affects the price.
On a follow-up question. I have about 38K into the truck and all my own labor. How much should I cover it for?
