tool for newbies ?

I found this tool on the Eastwood site (I learned a lot from them) and I wonder if it is a tool for those new to welding ?  It appears to be useful for old hands and new but an accomplished welder wouldn't need it.  Opinions ?  (It also comes in an air compressor model)  Would it improve my welds or is it just a cheat and I would learn to weld better without it ?  It is called the perfect panel prep tool and is used for butt welds to provide a small valley in which to weld.perfect 3p21130_1.jpgperfect tool 417L941dsjL__AC_SY355_.jpg

It's a useless tool.

Butt welds, the material is flat and level. The weld penetrates thru to the back of the panel. No need for a "pocket"/ valley.

Thank you for that. If anyone knows, it's you. So I spent the day yesterday ensuring the compound curved panels are as I want them, close to the buck. And I cut out an oversize side panel to be safe. Then I cut an oversize panel for the underside front and bent it to shape. I think I am close to cutting the panels to their finished size for welding but thought I'd make sure with you first. I know I can cut the bottom of one side panel off to fit the buck because I left extra along the curved top edge. I could probably trim that down too a bit until I know the top and side will meet just right. But before I cut, I thought I better check with you. I don't want to be the guy who says. "I cut it and I cut it and it's still too short." I'll wait for your guidance for the next step.
