Rochie,,I was waiting for your comment about CKLW.
It must of been really something living right there where the station was from.
I know they always said it was in Detroit but the call sign CKLW tells me it was actually this side of the river.
Am I correct thinking this way?

In the day I thought CKLW was the best. But there were two frustrations. Here in the armpit of the Niagara peninsula it was a challenge to get it to tune in. Most of the time we couldn't. But it was great when you could. The other thing was the confusion over it's location. There were the references to Detroit but on the other hand there were things that seemed to indicate it might be Canadian. It wasn't until years later that I learned TV and radio stations with call letters that began with a C were Canadian. Stations with call letters beginning with a W were American. This was some sort of international agreement. Although not near as good the next best thing was Toronto's CHUM. When we first moved here from Scarborough where reception was great, there was no reception and the station was unknown to locals. Years later CHUM must have increased their signal and we could tune in.

Thanks for the memory TMJ.
