Hogtown Metal Shaping Meet, October 2019
Permalink

OCTOBER 19-20, 2019

The Hogtown Metalshaping Meet will be held at my work place on the third weekend of October this year.
No experience necessary and is encouraged.
I will bring all my shaping equipment from home but we could always use more shaping stuff such as e-wheels, hammers, bags, stumps, etc.

E-wheels are extremely important and a few guys brought theirs last year. I appreciate the effort they took and it would be great if it could happen again.

I have manual shrinkers and stretchers and also the Baleigh power shrinker/stretcher to play with. We have enough TIG welders so we're OK there.

BBQ lunch will be served both days.
Doors open at 8:00 AM and run until everyone's burned out.

The meet will be held in the Markham Road/Finch Avenue area in Scarborough. (Toronto)

We have plenty of space for your projects, doors, hoods, fenders etc, so bring them along.

If you wish to attend please reply to this thread so I have an idea of how many are coming.

2721 Markham Rd. #25
Scarborough, ON M1X 1L5

Thanks,

I'm afraid you'll have to put up with me again Jari.  I don't have an E wheel but I can bring my hammer & stump and my T nose, such as it is and some metal sheets.

It was a great learning opportunity, especially for novices (from my point of view). I learned to Tig weld. It was great. Plus met a few more nice people. Jari and his daughter were a great help and lunch was fabulous. If any of you who haven't been want to learn metal working skills, don't miss next year. Thank you again Jari !

OK you metal shaping guys, the challenge. I have a straight piece of side trim about 60" long and 1" wide that I want to use only the first 12" and put a tip shape on the cut. But I want the cut edge rolled to give the appearance of a factory stamping. I believe the pieces are stainless and when it lays flat on the body, the center rises like a V. Any volunteers, I am willing to pay.

I'd do it for free and that works out perfect because when I'm done, you probably won't want to pay for it. But I'd still do my best.

I've never tried shrinking a piece of trim before. More than likely, I would screw it up also.
Do you have an extra piece to experiment with?

I've changed direction slightly, but it still reqires work on a piece of stainless trim. I have an extra piece of trim that you both can have to experiment on before we go for the real thing. I will talk to Jim and you both can knock your heads together.

123Pugsy would screw it up ? I don't think so. Jari is a perfectionist with metal plus he sees things I still can't no matter how I try. But I'll keep on trying.
