I took my 29 model A Tudor out for its first real run the other day. I had to drive all the way to town and all went well except just as I was pulling in to my destination, my door popped open. I had gone over both doors previously and the mechanisms seemed ok. (All original) What can I do to ensure they don't pop open in future, short of mickey mouse latches and ropes? I'd prefer to do the job right. Why do they pop open? Does the body flex too much on a custom frame?
Google up AutoLoc Bear Claw Latch Sets, the most popular way of stooping doors from inadvertently opening. Karbelt or Performance improvements should be able to get them for you. The small set would do. You may also need an installation kit. Keith used them on his Model A.
