Have you switched your to juice brakes Nick?? I might just think about doing my roadster into a 4 banger for some fun.. Lots of country here to drive it.. I am way far from TO and not much traffic.. Looks interesting and getting my attention.. who knows.. are you having fun driving yours??
I know where there is a rebuilt chassis with rebuilt engine, all new brakes and tires.. around 2500... I could sit my roadster on that and be driving in a few days.. Maybe I am crazy.. but looking and listening to some of these looks like a lot of fun without a huge investment.. It's about my speed at my age..

I honestly couldn't have imagined how much I enjoy driving my A. I have to drive it quite differently and really be a lot more aware of what's going on around me - and certainly can't be in a rush. But shifting a straight cut gear no synchro gearbox is quite satisfying! lol I have the stock brakes still - but I can't lock them up easily now - switching to 40 juice brakes isn't going to really change much. If I can upgrade the material on the shoes though I'd do that next. I did spend a lot of time setting up the brakes and going through the procedure - and I'm going to have to do it again this spring. I think the only difference between the early mechanical and early juice is the juice doesn't require the same amount of attention.
I wouldn't say it's super cheap - but depends on what sort of parts you need to replace.
You can get everything on the car brand new if needed - although I'm quickly learning the value in hunting for real parts.
If I had a spare $2500 and a roadster body laying around - I'd certainly go for it! lol but that's just me.
I might just sell off the Horton Chassis and engine to finance a 4 banger fun roadster.. i should get enough to finance the change.. Sure hope I am not having a mid-life crisis thing..might just go for a mental check up before I sign the papers.. I just don't have the interest or energy or money to build another car.. but this would just be a low-buck fun toy take for short spins to grab groceries.. i would probably go with an alt and 12v ststem though.. I am not big on a crank..
Check out some websites like Macs and Snyders and see what some parts cost if you happen to be in need of new.
There's Also Steven Twiss in Milton I visit for bits and pieces all the time - he's at all the markets usually.
If you decide not to go that route with the model A chassis, I may have some interest in it .I would do my best though chuck to try and get that chassis for yourself and you will have a ride over the weekend , if I were you !!! Be prepared to take a beating on your chassis though !!! As nice as it is , but the joy of driving that roadster will far outweigh it .
It will be the best couple of grand you will have spent in a while !!!

I am having our board Model "A" owner/resident good guy check it out up close for me before I have any further talks with the current owner.. Things are not always as they appear at first glance.. I have learned that from experience. So we will see where it goes. I do thank everyone for the sincere and positive motivation.. and offers of assistance. The present owner told me that he does not have a key for it and for some reason he seems to think he can't start it without the key because it has a closed ignition from either the dizzy or the coil.. I am not familiar with the ignition system at all so I have no clue what he is telling me.. How complicated could a 1930 ignition to bypass.. Hell I would have thought a piece of fence wire would make an ignition , two headlights and 4 spark plugs for it..It's a model "A".. Anyway if I pass on it I will let those who sent me a pm with an interest in it know where it is... But I am going to hg it forthe week-end while I ponder it and get a report from our model "A" board resident...

Sounds like he prob has a stock ignition in there?? I could even bring my dash over and my ignition wire that runs to the distr. There's not a whole lot to it.
Thank you Nick: That looks like a pretty complicated wiring diagram.. and they used to be so simple back in 2018 .. They have really advanced these Model "A"s Ford hi-tech emission controlled ignition systems.. pretty soon nobody will be able to figure them out and will have to get hi-tech service shops to Service these ignitions..
