Last week there were about 100 robins on the various lawns in my crescent. I even had a Grackle in the yard and this is the earliest i have seen them. Hopefully we have turned the corner on winter.
haven't seen any in the yard as of yet but i can smell a hint of spring in the air which is nice. caught sight of something else now twice that has me concerned though.

Hopefully it is the smell of fear by the Liberals. They simply need to go, they have been in power too long now.
Have not seen any Robins in Haliburton yet but lots of other birds. I wonder how those little chickadees can survive in the cold weather, there is nothing to them.
TWO Robins , so far " Way up here in Portland " --Chipmunks are out as well --Yesterday , an Otter ran up the Lake , toward Westport ------- LATER ---- DON / FLEET 51
caught sight of something else now twice that has me concerned though.
AND??
and, a good sized wolf now a couple of times with track coming up close to the house, shop and in the barn yard. got a look at it with the binoculars and it is much bigger than the normal coyote around here. talking to a neighbor down the road and find out he shot one near his barn and he tells me of another being shot in a backyard in the neighbor hood. the one i seen was pretty mangy looking and the neighbor says the one he shot was the same. the times are changing and i wonder what's next. brought the 22/250 up from the safe to keep handy for awhile.
on the plus side i see my pair of geese are back and will raise their brood like they have now for several years in the creek behind the house. it's funny watching the barn cats stocking them the odd time until the geese put the run on them.

this broad has pretty much sickened me on politics anymore with her blatant vote buying and shoving it in my face, opened up my ontario hydro bill this week and just shook my head. the whole format has changed to the billing and now it is all about how much money i saved over last years bill for the same period, meanwhile the ship is sinking by gazillions. oh yea i forgot, another buck an hour next year if i win. W.T.F.
with trump dropping the corporate tax rate down there and the price of our hydro we will start to feel this before too long, it is inevitable.

oh yea, haven't seen a robin yet but my geese are back. lmao

Where I live we have several large ponds with lots of Geese. Every year when the couples get in the family way they like to wonder and graze on our front and side lawn. The grazing started this afternoon. It won't be long before they will look like this picture from a previous year
good to see you post Rick how is you knee doing??? I might need to get a hand from you and Parklane to hold chuck down well they change his knee out and place a grease fitting in it later this year
you are scaring the hell out of me.. I am a sissy.. I do not get along well with pain.. I can still feel the pain from my flesh eating leg.. Last year at this time I was just a couple weeks from ending up in hospital..Not going to forget that for a bit.. my knee only hurts if I move .. If I am laying in my pine box it doesn't hurt a bit.. I would rather the Wynne liberals win the election than get my knee replaced.. Why can't they just put you to sleep for 2 weeks and set up a machine to attach your foot to a small electric tricycle wheel to keep it moving.. just wake me when I can run and play with my friends..and my toys...
.
Think I might wait till I am a bit older..

Robins and hummingbirds are here all year round.
Deer visit every night for COB that I put out. "Corn, Oats, Barley"
Two ducks come over also.
Now there is a seagull that bangs on the kitchen skylight and I toss him a piece of bread.
Country living. I like it.

NICE! I need more of that.

been meaning to ask how your leg is coming chuck, just waiting for the right intro. i thought it was bone infection not that dreaded flesh eating thing. anyway how is it coming along? you are right about never forgetting that pain, ever. i was at the dentist a couple of days ago for some work that i couldn't mail in, lol, and mentioned my fear of another bone infection and why so he gave me 2 penicillin pills and a script for a mild dose for a week for prevention. you will never forget it, ever. well maybe if you do forget it there will be lots of other stuff you for forget also. i hear the same as tmj on the knee job, not that much pain and a lot less than before the op.

Some great pictures and stories to remind us that SPRING is hopefully almost here. Wolves are a concern up here as well, very wary of them when walking the little beasties.
The deer population seemed to disappear this winter, typically we would see a number of them every day. However in the last week or so they are back, eight of them in the backyard eating what they could find.
One year we had three very little ones that had no adult with them. They got so used to seeing the dogs and I they would literally go nose to nose with the dogs. Neither the deer nor the dogs seemed to have any fear of each other. Sadly only one of the little ones survived the winter. Nothing against hunting but I just could not shot one, it would bother me forever.
I'm not much of a birder - but I like seeing birds. I think I may have seen a Golden Eagle this morning (or apparently could have been a young bald eagle). But man that thing was HUGE!!! I swear it was damn near 3ft tall. Perched on a chimney. Wish I had gotten a photo!

You probably did Beans, they are making a comeback all over. Or it was a Turkey Vulture warming up in the sun/chimney heat.

Very confident it was not a turkey vulture, pretty familiar with those - see them all the time.
