i must be getting old. Its been too dam cold to go outside. I cleaned out the driveway the other day and opened the garage AND actually started the Chevvy and ran it for a half hour. A few small projects to do in the basement then i can start to make up some door panels for Chevvy and then try to find a place where i can get some carpeting. Then its just driving time.

I am thinking everyone is someplace warm warm.. a few of us have the February cabin fever, Some are hibernating and the young ones are doing what we were doing fifty years ago..Out in the shop.. We never cared about the cold..we didn't have computers, or cell phones, or tablets.. or mig welders, most of us were glad to have a place out of the wind, and a trouble light to keep our hands warm..so they didn't stick to our tools.. I would bet there are many of us that can still remember those days..biggrin

Always busy.................  Cold Winter months are for the inside jobs and that is usually painting which I despise.  I usually start right after the Xmas tree comes down......... This year was the final two rooms to paint and the laundry room update.  Extra deep sink is for auto parts (don't tell my wife).  I always think I can knock it off in a couple of days but it always takes weeks.  I finished all this last Saturday so no more inside work.

While I was waiting for the stone counter top to be cut, I stripped the Harley down for a frame swap.  Today I removed the inner primary, oil tank and transmission.  Engine tomorrow.  Also, removed the rear wheel from the GSXR to repair a bad valve stem.  It was pretty cold out in the old shed.  That's all for me for the past month.  No car stuff unfortunately...............  Next person please...................  Rhys.

It was a week of appointments for me, almost everyday. Overtime this morning and sandblasting with the new cabinet blaster up until supper. Oh ya, helped Ben test fit and clamp panels on the 68 Camaro.

Getting a little bored since I finished and sold the house and I'm waiting for parts for the Bantam so not much progress there so I've decided to go over to my daughters for supper next Friday. She lives in Edmonton so it is 5 days driving each way and of course it won't stop snowing this weekend. Will cross at Sarnia and go by Chicago crossing back up into Canada near Estevan Sask. Will probably hit the Speedway Museum on the way back, love that place. Stay warm and hopefully everyone's aches and pains go away in anticipation of Spring coming.

I had to get a freakin job!
Damn it, taking up most of my toy time.
Playing with some other small projects, made some square tube bender dies, building a new shop lamp etc.
On the Chev I'm trying to make some running boards, custom of course. Trying get them the same left it right is turning into a futile process.

Today it was +10 or more. First Sunday of the month is the Studebaker Drivers meeting.
I took the '66 Cruiser out. We met at the Forest Museum in Duncan. Drove to Lake Cowichan for lunch.
Then went for a visit to a place way out in the woods were a man makes violins, cellos and bass.
Also, he does amazing wood carvings and paintings.
It was a great day. It only rained a little bit.
The last two weeks it's been raining non-stop.
But...as we say out here, "you don't have to shovel it."

And I complain when I go to Cambridge an hour away for dinner at my daughters..  you changed my perspective.

That is a great museum. Was there about 5 years ago on our way to Bonneville. Don't know if it has changed any with "speedy Bill" passing away. Even the lunch boxes in the stairway walls was great to see....Lot of neat stuff there for sure.

Crazy busy with clients work. Nights are spent doing pricing and administrative stuff. Weekends are spent at the new place working or at the current place fixing stuff. Moved my baby a couple of weeks ago. Shop starts coming apart this weekend weather permitting. Curling 2-3 nights a week. Shop time? That seems to be pushed aside for now

At times self employment is not all people think it is. You normally have several bosses. We are single income so making hay when the sun shines is real  important. Don't always have the balance right but have to live with it. Bills are payed but always have to plan for retirement as well. No pension in my world so need to save while I can. The construction industry is hard on the body as well. I enjoy this most of the time which helps. There will always be tomorrow to play with toys, they can wait. That's why I don't want animals. Wife loves them and as long as she looks after them its great. They want to eat every day, someone has to do that for them.

WOW so many other things in life showed up, and now I will never finish all my plans..just need to make a couple changes...So try to quit a few years earlier if you can  That's why I don't want animals. With a couple changes in there Marten you wrote my story as well.. but I had a good run really .. The good Lord has been pretty good to me .. So I am not gonna whine about my situation .. Just gonna try to pull on my big pants and try to get back on track this year.. keep on plugging my friends..

Know what Chuk is talking about. We started our business in 1980, and if you're old enough to remember, that wasn't the best time to do that, with 18 - 22% mortgages. We did survive, and wouldn't have it any other way. As Chuk said, the Lord has been very good to us.

The only problem with the square bodies is they rust like crazy.

Mechanically, turn the key and they always go. The most reliable vehicles I've ever owned.

I don't think the 327 in the car is original, but the casting # shows it's not a 283, 305, or 307, so it should be fine.

The guy said he got it from someone in Ohio. The VIN # says made in California. Bottom is rust free. Perhaps it lived in the south until some in Ohio bought it.

They are getting delivered to a fella's house that I know from another forum. I'll pick them up when I get the car. Free delivery in the States,

i don't have a shop right now to work in. a buddy had his body shop burn down a month or so ago and lost everything so i am letting him use my shop till he gets squared away. he mostly works for the dealer's patching this or that so no booth required, just a tent over the car for now till sometime in april and he is re/built. good guy and having favor owed by a body shop/painter can't hurt. lol

so, took the evo motor out of this at another buddies shop and put a new s&s 111 in and got it fired up today for the first time. it sounds pretty good with the reinhart true dual exhaust.

lol - I've already got that special lady! She may not be a builder but I'm still one lucky man - she was all for buying this property!

At first she thought I was an idiot and just wanted a bigger garage - but when we went to look at the house she saw the potential and saw what I was seeing so she wanted to do it.

We'd been considering selling our place and casually looking around but hadn't really decided to do anything and this just popped up and we both felt it was the right move to make.
