The weather was awesome this weekend and the ELTA brothers were invited once again to the Hamilton Road Runners BBQ at their club shop. But this year a added bonus was added by our club brother Bob Tindale, as he was kind enough to open up his very cool home shop for morning coffee for all. Thank you Road Runners and thank you Bob ...... loved your cars and that awesome garage.
I remember when their club house was downtown Hamilton.
Ward Smith, John "Long John" Lizotte, Trevor Wilmer and more.
I wonder if there are any original members left.
Jack Keon was honored with an Honarary Lifetime membership; Gary Weldon was there; Dieter Heinrich ; and of course John Greer. John was showing pictures of the old "Punks Pickup" and I heard him mention the turned dash insert that I believe you had made for it. And we thought the pace was getting full when the ELTA gang pulled in.. I heard over 80 cars in total and had to be about 20 of the ELTA gang. Was a good day. I really like the way the clubs are coming together now on more functions. I don't remember a lot of that 20 years ago when I was in the club
I believe it was Gary Weldon that did the first upholstery in Greer's pickup.
Yes, I did the turned dash on 1/8" stainless while I worked in the Otis elevator factory.

That would have been 1963-64.
The Punk's Pickup had lots of good ideas. Tube frame, airbag/coil over rear suspension, etc.
We started to build the frame for a '32 truck cab. I said "Everyone has a truck" Find a roadster.
Hezzy Armstrong in NY knew of a steel '23 roadster body. Greer got it. The bottom 6" was gone.
Ed Tueful of Custom Auto Body did the body work. The body had to be widened 4" to fit over the tube frame.
It was painted blue with a white interior. Later it got Candy Tangerine by Ron Gerstner in Buffalo.
Black interior. "More gooder".
The rest is history.

Another name from my past. Ed was a customer of mine at Queenston Chev Olds and he painted a 1969 Chev pickup for me. Two toned it with the mouldings. Not a real big body shop but him and Doug turned out some really nice work.
Yes Doug passed away a couple years ago. Had an awsome black 49 or 50 Merc 2 dr. Ed could rub you the wrong way if you didn't know him but I always got along good with him. Haven't seen him on quite a few years.
I was scanning Thespec obits a while back and saw that Ed's wife had passed.
Yes, Ed could rub you the wrong way, but I liked him.
He had a brother Walter.
GMDad... Doug Davies Merc. was a 1951 and if you scroll up to the pictures Mark posted of my shop you will see it alive and well. I had it repainted and a few other small changes .
