License plate stickers

In Ontario, where most street rods or classics are only driven for half the year are we required to purchase a 12 month renewal sticker? I don't want to start the historical plate debate but perhaps we need to have a "classic or hot rod" designated license plate that would come with a reduced cost, let's say$60/year? The forum has been quiet of late, maybe this might breath some life into it? I have already contacted a few MPP's about the idea, remember next year is an election year.

While I really like the sound of that, are you forgetting who the greedy, no good, scum sucking pigs that are running - or should say ruining this Province? Now if we could get rid of Orville Reddenbockers twin sister, there may be a chance of seeing something like this come to reality. JMHO

Up until the early 2000's I did to not renew my motorhome plate until April and only pay until Dec. What a shock when I went in and they said I have to pay from last Dec(they just changed it a month before. I don't see it being brought back.

In BC, we can get any amount of insurance we want. 1 month, 6 months, etc.
Also, while the car is sitting, we have "storage" insurance.
My GMC motorhome has storage insurance while I work on it. $60 per year. Fully insured for fire, theft, etc.
We can also have monthly payments which I do.

Insurance is the same in Ontario, we are talking license plate renewal stickers.

you know koot, it sounds good and reads good, but in reality it would probably just get abused somehow much like the historic plate sticker does today. just a thought, how about charging a tad more for the historic sticker and remove some of the restrictions on it that are being flaunted anyway. i personally think there are going to be big changes coming for any vehicle licensing, and insurance will jump on it also, for any vehicle on the road with a human driving and using strictly gasoline for power. this eco/viro thing is going to hit us like a freight train simply due to the fact of all the government funding put into it they have to try and re-coupe to show they were right. ie: for a number, .70 cents a kilo to buy eco power and sell it at, for a number, 15 cents domestically and for a bigger loss elsewhere.  a couple of billion here and there regularly for cancelling this or changing that, selling this or selling that for billions lost, ie: 407. etc

-

yeah, i know. the sky is falling--the sky is falling but mark my words. lol.  someday/somehow the piper eventually has to be paid and this eco/enviro thing is coming up a cash cow for the minions in the government who are obviously much smarter than the average joe smuck, just ask one.  lmao

and you thought it was quite on here, The forum has been quiet of late, maybe this might breath some life into it?

I could add to the controversy, but for the moment I won't. I just wanted to comment on the 'quiet'. Days go past with out any postings in Ontario and if it wasn't for the negative or for health issues or for home projects, very little would be said. On Canadian Rodders they go for days without a post and even over at the HAMB, the posts seem to be down dramatically. Maybe we've said it all.

So just remove all historical plate restrictions except the 30 year old criteria, charge $60/year and the government has just tripled their revenue! How can they not support that!!!

The most likely course of action would have them remove all historical plates and charge full price. Do you really think they give a s#!t about you

I have to admit I am a guilty party, have a couple vehicles with historic plates, while the vehicle is historic they have been far to modified so come this spring I am going to change the plates and go with regular vehicle plates, yes it will cost me more but I would rather be as legal as possible. The only reason I put historic plates was, and get this when I registered them both the lady at the licensing office told me to get historic plates, I told her they were very highly modified from being a stock vehicle and she said no problem as they are still a historic vehicle so use what she said, I didn't argue with her. Now after seeing there could be too many hassles and could be insurance issues and too many restrictions on historic plates its time to change them and not risk anything.

Just the opposite for me when I got the plates for the ' modified " '30 Model A Ford,...the lady there asked me if I was sure that I wanted the historical plates,...I stated that I was pretty sure that I did,..and she told me to read the fine print carefully,...I took the historical plates with me and 3 days later exchanged them, ( unused )  for Regulars,..sure got my eyes opened up,...way too many loop holes in the historical do's and don'ts for an insurance Co. to tell a car owner to Suck It Up,..if anything ever happened to the vehicle.
