just got a new ride

i was up to peterboro for a visit last fall with my boy who has been riding big crotch rockets for years to see his latest rocket, a new very big ninja of sorts, and he complains that the better half really isn't in to riding as much anymore like she use to be. i gave a chuckle and pointed out the itty-bitty bitch pad passenger seat and where the passenger pegs were mounted and mentioned she is not a kid anymore being in her early 40's, he is 48. i tell him to come and get the dekker and ride it for a bit to see if she still wants to ride but in comfort as it's going to be your bike someday anyway. it's a numbered 95 ultra that they only made 2000 of for the 30th anniversary of the glide which my passed wife bought for me new. i put her bike on the wall in the shop, a 1975 550-4-f, which she bought new in her mid teens. the -f meaning 4 into 1 exhaust, which is a bit rare.

so, along about the end of this past may he calls and asks if the offer of using the dekker is still on the table as he is thinking of selling the rocket and get more riding in with his better half, i tell him sure, come and get it. i was actually looking forward to a couple of rides on the rocket, lol. well that was the last time i seen the bike other than a couple of pic's here and there and he sold the rocket, no ride for me and that's probably a good thing on that bike. lol i never rode the bike much in the last couple of years but it was always there ready to go when the urge hit or something came up with some of the old guy's to do so i thought no big deal, until this year with all the g-d rain. now you get a couple of days of sunshine and i get the urge for a ride but no bike, so i fixed that with this. it's a 96 flht and in very good original condition, 1 and a 1/2 owners from new, with all the paper work from new, i got lucky with this. bought new at quinlan's in huntsville by a guy in his early to mid 50's and sold to a guy in tweed when the guy was in his early 70's, 1st owner. the guy in tweed has a nice 66-67 4dr chevelle that he gets a bigger kick from and sells the bike to me after only a couple of rides, the 1/2 owner. lol

anyway, this saga is starting to get winded but it needed the intro as i wasn't looking for a bike until this all happened and it stopped raining for a day or 2 at a time.  lol

and the reminders he sends of the 95. if you look hard you can see the big grin on her face, BUT, when i seen the harley jacket on him i kinda knew to keep an ear to the ground for another ride. lmao

were hooking up together this weekend for a ride down to kingston for the blues festival and it's probably the way it should be, enjoying it together while your alive.

Great logic Shag.

im thinking she'll be much happier riding now.

I wouldn't be much of a passenger for long myself.

And honestl,  it wouldn't matter how comfortable it was it would be boring just sitting back there.

Id rather be driving my own.

well done👍
