Yup he squeaked in hopefully he will stay out of trouble and finish the race. I don't know who built his car or built his engines but I hope they also hold together. It is not cheap to run one of these cars and they are probably on a very limited budget and limited resources. I will be pulling for him and kudos to D. J for making it as far as he has.
I'm sure DJ's dad, Doug Kennington has financed a ton of his sons racing career.
- Doug started Kennington Transport in St. Thomas, ON. some 40 years ago
- pops sold the business after 2008 recession & retired
DJ age 39, in the winter months:
- still plays men's hockey in Port Stanley
- drives a snow plow, for Southwold Township
DJ is referred to as "the fasted snow plow driver, in the county"...he-he.
He comes from a down to earth family, and he is a stand up guy.
DAYTONA INT'L SPEEDWAY - DJ's car (#96) was out on lap 127, during the 2nd pileup.
- nearly avoiding chaos in front / caused from someone's car, blowing a rear tire
- last Canadian to race quality, was in 1988
- congrats to him & his family, fulfilling a childhood dream
Last lap just run - victory goes to Kurt Bush...29th career win.
