i don't know if i can say they are the best meat i ever ate but they are one of the better eating wild game meats. a good partridge stew is high on the list also with a couple of slices of fresh buttered bread, yum. janice, are the moose in that area getting more common in the last 10 or 15 years? they have been quite common around the bancroft area for the last X number of years. the mnr says they are getting pretty thinned out in their traditional more northern areas and they are probably going to end taking calves which probably should of been done some years ago. i have chased a couple down the road years ago and seen a couple hit but we didn't start looking hard until about the marten river area and the rest of the way out. use to see some bears around your area which i would guess is getting pretty common with the spring hunt gone.

They never stopped being common around here. See them all the time. Had one standing on my front lawn last summer. I walked out on the deck and was no more the 2 ft away and he was in no hurry to leave. They are noisier them my old neighbour across the road😂

See less bear but won't be long and Art will be averaging 2 fire calls  a week to go  extricate some poor soul who at a min has filled their unders because they hit a deer or moose.
sadly more often very serious injuries or death.
we don't hunt but I wish they would give out more tags to cull them down.
I could do without them around here just fine.
