Captain Matthew Kutryk named as 2017 CF-18 Demonstration Team pilot
The Royal Canadian Air Force announced Wednesday that Captain Matthew Kutryk will be the pilot for the 2017 CF-18 Demonstration Team.
Capt. Kutryk will entertain audiences around North America during the 2017 air show season, flying his specially painted CF-18 Hornet commemorating Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation, the RCAF noted in a news release.

Kutryk joined the Canadian Armed Forces in August 2006, and in 2008 began military flight training in Portage la Prairie, Man. and later in Moose Jaw, Sask. In 2010, Capt. Kutryk was selected to fly fast jets and moved to Sheppard Air Force Base at Witchita Falls, Texas for training, graduating in May 2012.
He returned to Canada as a student at 410 Squadron at 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alta. for operational training on the CF-18 Hornet, and finished training in 2013 before being posted to 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron at 3 Wing Bagotville, Que.
Capt. Kutryk is currently a Section Lead and Fighter Electronic Warfare Instructor with 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron. In April, Capt. Kutryk will take to the skies over Comox, B.C., where the CF-18 Demo Team will conduct its annual training before launching the 2017 air show season.
he is the other half's nephew and his brother also fly's cf-18's. not a bad summer job i would think.

That is cool Rick. I like plane stuff too. I am not a huge follower but I do like the history of planes as well as our hot rod stuff.. I really think if it has an engine and makes a lot of power, noise and risk I am attracted to that stuff..I don't think it's all that rare of a disease..I believe many of us will suffer it for most if not all of our life.. at least most of the pain in this disease is in my wallet..

no sh!t on the go fast power and adrenaline end of it. i have tried everything short of outright bribery to go for a ride with either one of the boys but no can do.lol mat was the pilot that took rick mercer for a hop on one of his tv shows and i asked if he can go why not me and he grinned saying something about c-b-c having a little more influence higher up the pole than the rank of captian. humph!
he is also on track to be a canuck astronaut before long, not sure i would be in for that ride unless just maybe when i got to the station the other 3 or 4 up there where astro-ettes. lol
oops sorry, it is not mathew on track for an astronaut it is his brother major joshua kutryk who is on a very short list to be one.

no sh!t on the ton and a half of work involved. the family moved many times when the 2 boys and 2 girls were young as their father was moving up the ranks of the r.c.m.p. finishing as an inspector with postings from the far north to the high arctic. they eventually ended back at the family farm north east of vegreville ab near beauvallan for the kids to attend school as they were home schooled prior to that. they were raised on the farm with no television and when they came to belleville to visit their moms family, better halfs brothers and sisters, the joke was you could always find the kids as they were parked in front of a t.v. somewhere. the girls are veterinarians and the boys are fighter jet pilots, no t.v., humph !
anyway, i have known the boys since they were in university and their whole focus was to be jet pilots period. they spent a couple of summers in south america flying gliders in the andes mts for some sort of a credit while at university, they were focused. every once in awhile one of them will be here at the trenton base for a day or 2 and we all get together for a lunch and chit-chat.
