Not one of those things would I want to be seen in.
Creative minds for sure, but those same minds could be put to better use.
What is the resale value on this crap?
depending on where its drove, most places in the US you can pretty much drive anything, up here is more strict but as long as it passes a safety then its ok I would think. some of those are a joke and shouldn't be on the road I would say.
With the government we have right now,..it would only take about 3 fatalitys with something like in the above photo's involved,..and that would be the end of Hot Rodding in this country as we know it now.

I'm a fan of ratrods...some of them! Lately it seems to me that people are just putting anything on them whether it's safe or not..it's gotten out of control..
this is the result of scrap metal prices being so low.rat rods were a whole different ball game being well built without the money spent on bling.these are rat traps look like something city or town planners would come up with

I'm sorry boys, but these pieces of crap have no business being even near a road let alone on one. Picture this, your daughter is driving home from "whatever" and the person driving one of these **** boxes and can't see around the visor, stacks, blower etc., etc… or the snot welded pitman arm breaks….you need more reason to stop this ****!!!!!
Many of them would not pass the 'Scrub' test (the area under a vehicle chassis below the lower edge of the rims) and therefore shouldn't be driven on a public highway.
In the event of a flat tire-the wheel assembly should be the point of contact with the road-not a chassis or body component-which would allow the vehicle to 'skate' out of control.
I guess these guys feed off the 'shock value' I personally don't get it.
I wish this trend would end, there is nothing visually appealing to them and mechanically they're just plain scary! It amazes me that junk like this draws crowds at shows.
I was going to post a pic of my son's "Acquisition" and Rant about it, however, after viewing the above "creations" and seeing some at shows I think I will just state that I feel Rat Rods should NOT be RATTY! They should evolve, like the cars they pay Homage to. They should ALWAYS Be SAFE.
