So it has been a bit since I did this. Thought I would post another wooden project that I built. This is an Abrams tank. I know it is American but it was the only drawings I have. It is make out of cherry for the main part. Small parts and dowels are maple. Tracks are make from an exotic wood, paduck I think. The wheels for the tracks were bought and then drilled out to have the dish look to them. The tracks were a challenge to make as each piece had to be cut several times to get the right profile and then end drilled to allow a dowel to hook each one together. The main part of the tank goes around in circles and there is a small gun on top of that which also goes around. The cherry was cut from our ministers yard when he built his house several years ago. When he gave it to me thought of using is as fire wood as it was very scrappy looking and rough. After planning it down I am glad I had saved it. It is covered in several coats of clear finish. The scale is the same as the other wood projects I have posted. The plans come from a company called Toys and Joys. Although not clearly visable the drive looks out of a small spot between the main body of the tank and the large turret. I built it out of a small piece of clear plastic. It is 25" long from the front of the main gun to the back of the tank.
Although this is not the intent of me posting this stuff, Chuk asked me to do it as he felt that others would be interested in seeing it. I will sell it if someone is interested.

I can hardly wait to your truck finished. I am expecting a Riddler contender ..at The Detroit auto show.. I do believe your patience working on the truck will pay off when it is done..Building a vehicle right takes time, patience and a lot of small details to work out , sometimes more than once. You do great work..

Chuck thanks for the words of encouragement, they mean a lot. Not sure about Riddler although there has been dreams of it. I watched recently as a couple I know just win a trip to Arizona to the Barrett Jackson something in Nov. There were 5 finalists and one was a '56 Ford pick up. This was out of maybe 500 cars. The finalists were all of the same calibre I am trying to achieve. I am starting to get the concept that you have to build these things a couple of times. Life is great when I do get the time to spend in the shop weather woodworking or more recently hot rod building. I did notice that last years or maybe this years Riddler was won by a first time builder in a guys garage.
I do believe your patience working on the truck will pay off when it is done..Building a vehicle right takes time, patience and a lot of small details to work out , sometimes more than once. You do great work..
